COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A wheat beer with a white cloud of protein due to its strong wheat concentration. Hops are really light in order to let fresh coriander express itself. Furthermore, the addition of a Belgian ale yeast gives this beer a lightly spiced flavor.

341ml bottle poured in a weizen glass around 4 degrees. Pours a cloudy dark straw robe showing a good amount of macro carbonation. The head is white, thin and porous. Retention is minimal and lacing is pretty much inexistant. The nose is herbal and spicy with strong notes of coriander, basil and orange zest. The yeasts are very present in the nose with an earthy, leafy backbone. On the tongue, the yeasts dominate right from the start with tingling cilantro and basil followed by an acidic/soapy orange zest lingering all the way to the end. The hops are quite subtle, which is a good thing for another strong grassy or herbal element would throw the beer way off balance. Overall it’s a decent Witbier, not the best I had, but still a decent pour on a hot summer day. Pair it with white fish.

(1334-021214)

Bottle 341ml. Pours somewhat hazy golden with low white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of bannanas, citrus. Not much else. Coriander? Taste is of water, bananas, sugar, citrus, some acidity. Coriander? Palate: Light body. Low carbonation. Overall: Appearance is problematic. Feels a tad too sweet, but is too light at the same time. Better than expected.

pours almost clear light golden with nice white head, little retention. coriander - lots of it, some lemon and fruitiness, very light acidity, some phenols. soft carbonation, light body, decent grassy-citrusy finish.

Originally rated December 2005. Bought at Metro on St-Jean in Quebec City, September 2005. First of two brews tested tonight, brewed by Multi-Brasseurs Inc. Both wheat beers (bière blanche de blé - written on label). Pours a cloudy pale beige-white with a good white head. Now, maybe this one is outdated... because the first sign are the bad nose. You can only smell the wheat aromas, hiding under a bad stench of rotten wine. Kind of like a bottle of red, half-dranked and sitting for over a month. Ok, maybe not as bad, but the mouth is even worst. A mix of coconut and notes of pineapples, all with a medium waxy mouthfeel. Very weird, and thanks Multi-Brasseur for trying. Hope the other is good at least.

This is definitely a wheat beer because you can sure taste the wheat in this. Whether it is actually a beer or not is questionable though. To me it tastes like a wheat flavoured drink, ie. what you would get if you threw some kernels of wheat into a glass of water and let it sit for a few days. It tastes like eating raw kernels of wheat. The people who brewed this had no idea of how to brew a wheat beer. It’s only redeeming feature is it is mild so it is not quite a drain pour.
