500mL bottle, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Nose is very weird, with cough syrup, medicinal notes, some tar, burnt dark fruits and sugar. Flavour is quite repulsive, with cough syrup and overly sweet, almost-infected tasting, medicinal notes ,with some burnt dark fruits buried underneath. Not sure what the hell they were going for here, but this is a horrendous mess.

Bottle. Moderate malt note of caramel, light cooked orange for the hops, moderate yeast aroma of sweat, with date, wine, brown sugar and alcohol in the background. Heas is tiny, fizzy which quiclky diminishes and leaves no lacing. Color is muddy mahogany. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes moderately sweet, lightly acidic, and lightly to oderately bitter. palate is on the fuller side of medium, greasy witha soft carbonation. Lots of boldness in this Barley Wine, too bad it’s all out of place and pretty rough overall.

500 mL bottle. Dark, dark brown with almost no head. Smells not bed, with burnt caramel and spice and alcohol. Mostly alcohol, though. Flavour isn’t bad, either. Alcohol is more subtle. Not too sweet at first, although by the end there’s really nothing but sweetness. Needs more caramalt, though. It’s missing something. Not bad, though. No off flavours.

Bouteilel 500 ml. VIN D’ORGE. 10,5%.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Metalchopz (1747) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 10, 2011
Originally rated September 2006. Bought at the Dépanneur À-Tout-Prix in Laval, Quebec. Pours a super dark brown with red highlights. Its tanned head has pretty good retention, but lacing falls a bit short. Fruity, caramel sweet nose with some alcohol. Mild burnt wood is in the back. Creamy mouthfeel with a slight burn at the end, but nothing offensive. The taste is the same as the nose, fruits (apples, mild cherries), roasted malt and caramel. A very good beer for Multi-brasses, but just lacking the top of what a Belgian brewery would brew.

App.:
Dark rubis poor, creamy beige head.
Aromas:
dates, wasabi, star anise, cranberries, blueberries... something’s just not right though...
Palate:
fad, low carbonation, alcohol, very sweet, off balanced.......
Flavors:
Alcohol hints, cheap wine mulch, dark fruits...
Notes: Overall this beer is borderline aweful... somewhat infected, if it wasn’t for its fruity sweetness... this one woulda been a drainer...

Bouteille de 500 ml vieillie 1 an environ.
