does not count jmikep (8), Quebec, Canada Nov 4, 2007 500 mL bottle. Chilled. Red amber ale. White head. Ginger and cinnamon or cloves aromas. Bitter ginger taste with some spices. There’s a sourness to this beer for sure. Ginger and cinnamon flavors keep lasting... not really my style
blankboy (2687), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 18, 2007 Bottle shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a clear deep ruby with an average size off-white head -- looks rather nice. Aroma: Whoa Nelly, this is potent stuff! I like it though, smells kind of like gingerbread cookies. Lots of ginger along with cloves, some other spices, yeast and a bit of sourness in the background. Flavour’s the same, lots of ginger and spices but it’s a little more subtle then the aroma, it’s also maltier and has that sourness again -- I’d rather smell this then drink it. This is very interesting but I couldn’t drink a whole bottle. HogTownHarry (3361), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jun 16, 2007 Bottle (500ml). Shared with blankboy, my bottle via trade with Viper666. Clear bright deep refractive ruby with an average head - lovely colour. BAM! - the aroma hit me ’twixt the peeper, massively yeasty and spicy - cloves, other pungent spices - it smells like a gingerbread house with added sour cherry; massively sweet and yeasty with sour edges. Taste - sour cherries, butcher paper, pungent ginger and cloves - so pungent it finishes bitter despite the huge sweetness. Thick, flat, spice/acid mouthfeel, with a lingering almost herbal gingery aftertaste. Wow, this is just packed with spice, way over the top, too much to be "good" - if you love ginger (I don’t) you might at least find it interesting.
