Rastacouere (5258), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Mar 8, 2005 Brownish ultra effervescent cranberry juice appearance. This excessive carbonation feeds a decent creamy white head, not very laced, but lasting and stable. Sweet lemony and fruity nose, strong earthy hints, milder cloves. Finish surprises with an sour bite and even more for its shortness. Could be pretty good with a more cohesive hop bill, as it is, the bitterness is pretty much limited to a sandy/earthy mellow dryness. Mouthfeel is heavily carbonated, very juicy with its berries and banana notes. Well contained 9% ABV. Not very authentic... hopscotch (4433), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 30, 2005 Bottle...RBSG2005... Murky, caramel-colored ale. No head. The aroma is fruity and vineous; spicy and woodsy. The flavor is fruity and vineous as well with notes of apple and red wine. Tart and very lightly alcoholic. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The high ABV is fairly well hidden. No alcoholic bite or warmth. MartinT (4307), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 18, 2005 The Lure: A faint fruity odor of grapes, prunes and cherries rises from the seemingly powerful yeast. All is somewhat stale and near inodorous.
The Festivities: Fruity esters (cherries dominating) aptly combine with the decent malt body, but a fizzy carbonation and strong Belgian yeast flavor undermine it all. A metallic twang in the back surges from the dusty, dry-soil-like yeast for an all-around amateurish flavor spectrum.
Transcendence: A fruit field after a dust storm. What a waste. tiggmtl (4169), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Apr 12, 2005 Sweet candy-like aroma is fruity and has some smokey hints. Opaque brown with decent and lasting cover of off-white head. Lightly fruity, brown malty flavour feels somewhat stale. Moderate carbonation though body is rather thin. Not a spectacular example of the style though I think there may have been oxidation issues with this beer. Claims to be a tripel but... Stem glass, just above fridge temp. Bottle sampled with MRomero548, Olivier, Rastacouere and Taktik_MTL. Radek Kliber (3284), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 29, 2005 Dark, murky, cloudy brown ale . Creamy average head . Light woody , sweet , slightly alcoholic nose , dry fruits . Medium bodied with initial strong dry carbonation, medium dry alcohol in noticeable. Decent strong ale, a bit shy.
