1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 GoufCustom (220) - HONG KONG - FEB 10, 2013
Bought a couple of this at local 7-Eleven at a buy-one-get-one-free deal. Clear light golden yellow colour; One and a half finger head and white foam which fades in 1 minutes; Good lacing with light but noticeable carbonation; Unpleasant smell of wet cardboard, malt and light grass; Taste of malt (very faint), chalk dust and grass; Medium to light body and watery palate; No hop bitterness and a faint tartness as finish, if at all. Very easy to mouth, dry after taste.
Comments: the deal is obviously a big mistake. This is a very below-average industrial lager, with nothing good to talk about plus that terrible chalk dust taste reminds me of Viru I had yesterday. Avoid at all cost if you can and I wonder what should I do with the other can…
1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 DeanF (1537) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - DEC 31, 2011
Okay browner yellow and some modest head. Slight aroma of lemon and malted cardboard. Flavour is citrus cardboard with a watery finish. What else can I say, but another lager ticked off the list!
1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 jgb9348 (3964) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - AUG 24, 2011
Light golden coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of malt, lemons and very little else. Light-bodied; Sharp metal at first with some light malt, a ton of lemons and some very fake sugar tastes. Aftertaste is potent, yet a bit fake - sugars and lemons show poorly with very little else worthwhile. Overall, not such a great beer, but showing some minorly different flavours than most of the other pale lagers you find here. I sampled this 50 cL can purchased in Central, Hong Kong, for HK$9,50 sampled later in my hotel room here in Central on 24-August-2011.
2.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 kidmartinek (2452) - austin, Texas, USA - DEC 12, 2010
Very light, clear, yellow. Foamy white head. Airy, hay aroma. Dark barley malt flavor for such a light colored beer. Decent hopping.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Beershine (5173) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JAN 15, 2010
Can. Clear yellow-gold with a head that fades fast. Sweet cereal grain aromas. Thin beer with steeped barley tea flavors and a watery finish. Weak but drinkable.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - DEC 27, 2009
Can, from 7-Eleven in Hong Kong. Golden colour. Has the aroma of grassy, pee-like hops and bready malts. The body is relatively full, and is accented towards a biscuity malt character. OK helles.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 jayinhk (9) - HONG KONG - AUG 18, 2006 does not count
Good for the price. Has a hint of floral hoppiness (but just a hint). Goes down smooth and it isn’t unpleasant, but it isn’t particularly outstanding. Not skunky, which is a good thing.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 drpimento (1936) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 21, 2006
Pours with a very pale yellow color, some head and lace. Has some body. Not a lot of flavor. Pretty hum-drum. Had this from a King Can bought in Hong Kong.
