Bottle. Pours a near-black deep brown body with a large creamy light beige head of considerable endurance. Nose is peaches, chocolate, grass, coffee, near-salty herbal tones and hints of citrus and bread. Taste is sharp roasty tones, grass, herbs, white pepper, coffee, dark chocolate and hints of bready caramel and licorice. Medium body and carbonation. Lingering aftertaste of grass and herbs, with some sharp licorice notes. Not bad, particularly when it comes to hiding the high ABV, but not fantastic either.

Sample from bottle at Vecturamesse. The best beer from Munkebo, much of the pleasant hoppy and roasty character from the Midtfyns version seems to be intact. Will re-rate when I get a full bottle.

Bottle. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Pitch black body. Dusty roasted malt caramel bread aroma. Bittersweet smooth and creamy roasted malt caramel grass flavor and some grapefruit sourness in combination with a fair amount of hops bitterness. Alcohol is unfortunately quite dominant. Low carbonation, long finish.

Rating #991, flaske fra Toft Vin

Sortbrun øl med ok skum. Let brændt duft med masser af blomster- og citrushumle. Smagen har de samme egenskaber, en del ristethed og en solid bitter afslutning. Lidt for tydeligt alkohol. God øl, velbrygget men uden nogle overraskelsesmomenter - en øl præcis som forventet. Medium tyk.

Appearance: Almost complete black color with a thick tan head that leaves a nice lacing.
Aroma: Grapefruit hoppy, tropical fruity and dark malt.
Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and a fine bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Balanced nice grapefruit hoppy, tropical fruity, coffee and dark malt. Well masked alcohol.
Overall impression: Spot on. Lovely BIPA.
Personal stats: Bottle from YNWA Beershop in Kolding, Denmark

Big dark brown head. Opaque black body. Milky roasty aroma with sooty notes. Dryish roasty burnt sooty taste with spicy pine needle notes. Mid-to-full body. Sharpish, slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish roasty chocolatey mineraly aftertaste with grape, earth and spice notes. There’s a really odd note in the aftertaste that suddenly pops out and goes "BUTTERY TOFFEE", then abruptly disappears into nothing. Lingering roasty spicy salty notes. Nice, drinkable, but perhaps a bit insistent. I’d like this more at 7%. (0.33l bottle, from Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

duft: citrus. let ristet malt. lidt rugbrød. smag: meget bitter. frisk frugt til start som skifrer over til smag af mørk malt og kiks.
