COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Danish: Alstærk er den ene af to heste, som trækker Sols vogn hen over himlen. Vognen bliver styret af Mundilfares smukke datter, som er opkaldt efter solen.
Alstærk blev kåret som den bedste øl ved DM i håndbryg 2011 og vandt desuden andenpladsen ved det skandinaviske mesterskab i håndbryg 2011. Alstærk er en stærk Skotsk Ale, som gæres ved lavere temperaturer end de fleste ales for at fremhæve maltbaggrunden. Den er brygget med 6 forskellige malttyper, hvilket resulterer i en kompleks maltbaggrund som balance til den høje alkoholprocent og det lave indhold af humle. Fynske Claus Christensen fra Munkebo Mikrobryg er Danmarks mest vindende håndbrygger, som kombinerer traditionel ølbrygning med nutidens naturvidenskab.
Ingredienser: malt, humle, vand, gær, maltekstrakt og sukker.

Sampled at Papsoe’s, not sure who shared it. Deep brown color, light head. Sweet and estery aroma, very estery taste, a bit thin. My notes are limited but I think I enjoyed this one overall.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2012 (75 cl bottle) Pours black with a medium, toffee head. Good lace and decent retention. Aroma is malty, sweet and dark. Creamy texture, medium carbonation, full body and a sweet, roasted finish. Taste is sweet and roasted with notes of chocolate and a hint of acidity. Well done. (sample at Papsø’s) Pours a dark ruby copper with little, white head. Aroma is complex malty with notes of syrup, bread and cereal. Oily texture, full body, flat with a sweet finish. Taste is malty sweet with a slight acidity. Aroma: 7; Appearance: 3; Taste: 7; Palate: 4; Overall: 14

Bottle @ Papsø. Fairly clear, reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Richly syrupy, raisin, dark fruity, rich toffee aroma. Well carbonated. Rich, dark toffee, brown sugar, plum, raisin, a bit nutty flavor. Delicious stuff and smooth with little note of booze.
