Commercial Description:
Munkholm Spesial til julens fiskeretter (Munkholm Special for Christmas Fish Dishes) is an aromatic alcohol-free beer, developed to go especially well with lighter Christmas foods like boiled cod, smoked and "gravet" fish, and turkey. The beer has a rounded caramelly sweetness, a light fruitiness from blueberries and a balanced, fresh bitterness, and an aftertaste of bog myrtle. (Translated from the Norwegian.)

Medium offwhite head over pretty chestnut brown body. A bit light for a Christmas beer. Sweet malty aroma with notes of rock candy, cinnamon, and a little straw. Taste is sweet watery cardboard, with a dry, bitter metal aftertaste. Very low on taste, but apart from the metal there isn’t much in the way of off tastes, either. Not bad. In fact, probably the best beer in the Munkholm series. (0.33l bottle.)

Quite decent low-alcohol, actually. Looks ok, a bit on the darker side. Aroma of blueberry jam. The typical Munkholm-flavour is hardly detectable. Not too sweet finish and there is in fact a slight trace of sweet gale back in the aftertaste. .

330 ml bottle. Amber clear colour. Medium-sized coarse white head. Grainy berry-like aroma. Prickly sensation on the tongue from the carbonation. Quite a bit of bitterness at first. It then mellows out and leaves a water and slightly fruity flavour. I’ve had worse. Not really any defects to be found, but it is not magnificent either.
