larsga (2448), Oslo, Norway Oct 30, 2006 Medium offwhite head over deep reddish brown body. Sweetish malty aroma of rock candy. Reminiscent of the other Munkholm Spesial, but fainter and less complex. Taste is watery roasty malts and brown sugar with a touch of cardboard and straw. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. It’s OK, but nothing special. Better than most in the Munkholm range. (0.33l bottle.) Gr0ve (1123), Oslo, Norway Nov 13, 2006 330 ml bottle. Reddish brown colour and crystal clear. Clean grainy aroma. Smells like oat flakes with a little cranberry in the back. Mellow malty flavours and a soft mouthfeel. Quite appropriate for a non-alcohol beer. Finishes watery, but with a drying bitter finish. Papsoe (11076), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 8, 2007 (Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yngwie. Clear, dark amber golden with a small, off-white head. Lightly sweet aroma of roasted malt. Thin body, notes of rye bread and a little caramel. Rather hoppy finish. 310807 Grovlam (3325), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 2, 2007 Bottle. [Courtesy of Papsoe, another great session @ Papsoe] Small off-white rocky head. Spare display of lacework. Clear sparkling body with a pale brown color. Aroma of light caramel, hint of toasted malt, bred like notes and some fruit. Light bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor. Sweet finish. Ok alcohol free beer I guess. 31-08-2007 Sigmund (2006), Hafrsfjord, Norway Nov 7, 2006 330 ml green bottle. Looks rather good, brown colour, large and lingering off-white head. Tolerable malty aroma with hints of bakery and caramel, the usual Munkholm "boiledness" is subdued in the background. Acceptable (for a n/a beer, that is) flavour of malts with some burnt caramel notes, metallic hops in the finish. The "best" (= least miserable) of the Munkholm varieties so far.
