This dunkel is red mahogany with a small, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, syrup and caramel. The flavour is moderately sweet with notes of syrup, roasted malt, nuts, lots of caramel, and the finish is slightly dry with a little nuts and a touch of citrus. It’s quite nice.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2010 Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It’s a clear, dark golden to amber beer with an off-white head. Sweet and malty nose with some fruityness going on. Malty flavor with some ryebread. Fruity hints and bitterness too. Medium body, quite dry. Bready, caramel finish with some fruits. A decent one, nothing more, but at least easy to drink and all that. Rating: 5-4-5-3-10-2.7. 090821

Bottle. What’s said in previous rating stands, but I lifted the score slightly. It’s actually quite tasteful, but I could do without the metallic note in the finish. Not as bready flavor as I noted last time, but more on the fruity side. Still a bit low on bitterness. A beer that goes down easily, but there’s nothing special about it. 100106

Bottle (purchased at the Brauerei): Chestnut-amber coloured with a small, slowly collapsing off-white head; caramelly nose with a dry roasted-malty touch; quite dry bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; dryish bitter-malty finish. Not unpleasant, well crafted, but not overwhelming Dunkel....................

bottle, díky pivnizube! Clear mahogany colour, tiny head. Malty nose with hints of achocolate and roasted malts. Medium-bodied, flavours of malt, roasetd malt and chocolate. Hoppy flavours, which are resiny and have hints of medicine, with very shy and hardly noticeable salty-sour tinge. Very nice.
