Not a guy for creamy beer, but this was an exception. Also, I can’t let my namesake down.

orignal: 7/25/02 - Dark stout. Very Good but not something one good live off of. Good if you like liquid bread. :)

Damn good beer - but not Guinness. Slight coffee taste versus Guinness’s chocolatey taste. Also not as full-bodied and less bitter. Great beer though, just not as good as Guinness.

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2005 A really nice, mild dry stout that’s a bit smoother and more drinkable than Guinness. Slainte. Enjoying it again years later, this really is a deliciously MILD Dry Stout. There’s not that much thickness to it, despite the color. Noticeable bitterness, but not much of it. Were it not for the massive fluffy nitro-induced head, I’d think it was a schwarzbier.

Heavy, but not as heavy as Guiness. More drinkable than Guiness

If the Guinness is to heavy or bitter this is a good alternative with the smoke/coffee/chocolate notes and drinkablaty

Has to rate about the same as guiness, I would have to taste them side by side to tell the difference. I suppose the Murphy’s is a little bit more watery but solidly dark with a small head that lasts the whole way through. No overwhelming flavors but crisp and dry throughout. Would like to try on tap.

You get a really nice looking beer with this - no complaints there. A strong roasted malt nose, but I got a little sour milk aroma thing going on. Roasted malt taste - almost smokey, or better toasted (as Yogi_Beera puts it). Bitter finish. Quick profile and a creamy mouth feel. Thin though. Overall harmless and inocuous. Certainly drinkable, but not that good - just above average.

Malty, toasted grain aroma with hints of cookies. Wonderful appearance: big frothy head, mostly lasting and a nice black color. Tastes creamy and like coffee but finish is average and get’s oily and flat. For a stout weak.
