0,5 tölkki@ Jätkäsaari. Kermaisen mokan värinen paksu vaahto, samea todella tummanruskea. Tuoksussa soijakastiketta, paahteista mallasta, ruista. Maussa hiukan palaneen paahteista mallasta, rautainen jälkimaku, pikkuisen kitkeryyttä, humalaa. Odotin täyteläisempää.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 500ml nitro can poured in an ordinary glass. A: Pours a huge creamy fizzy beige head. Impressive retention (it lasts for long time): The Nitro device really works. The color is a deep black but not completely opaque S: Huge roasted malts in the nose. Followed by caramel and some hints of dark chocolate T: Strong on roasted malts. A bit sweet upfront but, in overall, a dry and bitter taste, as expected. A bit metallic with a light earthy hoppy presence too M: Light body. Low carbonation and a nice and mild bitter aftertaste D: High. The bitter aftertaste and the low ABV improves a lot its drinkability. [ BA Review @ 2/26/2010 ]

Transfer from BA review on 3-16-14- Poured from nitro can into a pint glass Appearance – Being a nitro pour, the beer shows the beautiful cascading nitro bubble vision. A cascade of white/tan carbonation/nitro bubbles streams up through the dark brown nearly pitch black body of the brew, with it advancing to the top of the beer and leaving a great level of thick off-white foam on the surface of the beer. The foam has a fantastic level of retention, very slowly fading over time to leave lots of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a roasted malt smell as well as some coffee smells. Mixed with these are some hints of molasses and caramel, sweetening up the brew a bit. A bit of an oat and earthy aroma are there as well and when mixed with the sweet and nice roasty aromas it produced a very pleasant aroma overall. Taste – The taste begins with a nice roasty flavor mixed with some sweetness of a molasses and brown sugar nature. As the flavor advances the sweeter tastes fade all while being replaced by a lighter coffee flavor. Up front there is also a lighter chocolate taste, which like the sweeter flavors, ends up fading more toward the end of the flavor profile. Along with the increase of the coffee, so too comes some flavors of an earthier hop nature, which, with the drying of the flavors, ends up leaving a rather drier and darker roasted flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – Again being a nitro pour, the beer has a slightly thicker body feel for a brew of only 4.0 % abv. with a rather standard nitro driven carbonation/nitrogen feel. For the style it is quite appropriate with the lack of tingling bubbles but the smoother and creamier feel being nice for the mix of roast and lighter bitter flavors. Overall – A rather decent Irish stout. It starts out sweeter, but dries out nicely with a decent level of bitterness from coffee and earthy hop flavors. With the nitro style pour, it makes for a good feel for the mix of roast and bitter as well as for the lower abv. of the beer and make for a rather decent session style drinker.

Smooth, thick, full and creamy. A very rewarding drink with dark roasted notes and some breadiness although not very high on flavors. Wins the battle of Ireland hands down.

i like it better than Guiness by a touch, but still don’t think it has bold enough flavor, body, or aroma to stand up to the nitro. just too thin/watery. however, it is a smooth beer, has some nice malty roasted aroma and flavor, a touch of chocolate too. not bad, just not special. Can’t beleive I hadn’t reviewed this yet."

Creamer. Pours a really dark brown with a thick beige head that leaves awesome lacing. Nose is of roasted nuts, chocolate and ash. Taste is of toffee, caramel and roasted malt. Body is light, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel just weak an watery. Overall an OK option when somewhere without craft beer.

Can @StoneManor.

Can just says Murphy’s Imported Stout. Nice head, awesome coloring typical of the nitro can. Super creamy, more thin than thick. Dry roasty malts, bread notes. Smells kind of stale.
