Had this one at Lord Mike’s Pub in Amsterdam a few times. This really took me back as the first stout that really made me say “wow” that’s good beer. Since then I’ve had it a few times on draft and from widget cans. It is a smooth great dry stout. Pours very dark brown almost black with a lasting creamy tan lacy, thick head. Smells of dark and roasted malt, coffee and chocolate with some smoky elements. Eventually bits of dark berry comes out as it warms. Medium watery body that goes down very well. Very smooth but a little watery. It has elements of dark malt like a Mild and rather thin for a stout. Sweet with a bitter roast bitter finish. The roast is light with chocolate and coffee. Super drinkable and smooth.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass and a mug. There wasn’t much difference between the two glasses. The appearance was dark brown color ranging close to black. The head was a film of off white foaminess coating the sides of the glass. The smell had a nice blend of roasty coffee to sweet dark chocolate. There was also a light milk chocolate coming in as it warmed. The taste was basically balanced between the roasty coffee to sweet chocolates. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was construed to be somewhat sharp but tame enough to take down at a decent pace. Overall, Irish Dry Stout? Oh yeah. Done well. Oh yeah. Would this guy have it again. Oh yeah!

Can - super dark red with a thick light brown head. Good retention and thick lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Taste of coffee, roasted malt, hints of vanilla and a mild bitter end. Heavy body.

A little tasteless with some chocolate and some hops. Quite watery. Expected much more from a Irish Stout. Not bad, but not special either.

A nice dry stout. Lingers on the palate for a long time. Pretty in a glass but even nicer going down. A nice session beer in rainy weather.

Aroma is cream, dry roasty malts, some bread notes. Taste is creamy body with roasted malt with a slightly sweet note. Fairly subtle finish. Body is a dark amber/black with a thick creamy nitrogen head that retains very well.
