Backlog. On tap at Conor OíNeillís. Black appearance with a tan head. Roasted malts, milk chocolate and coffee notes. Light to medium body, a little thin, but pretty good overall.

Tastes like a watered down Guinness. Not necessarily a bad thing as I love Guinness but I'd rather drink the real thing.

Draft. Black pour with a finger of off-white creamy head. Usual coffee and chocolate aroma. Taste is more roast. An okay mass produced stout.

One of my favourite mass produced beers/stouts. As someone who used to enjoy a smoke, but have seen the errors of my ways, I turn to this 500ml package of goodness to get that same satisfaction. Nowhere near the best stout on the market, but in my humble opinion, the best in its class, easily eclipsing Guiness

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was the first beer I ever tried at 9 years of age. This time, Iím drinking it on draught at Gus OíConnors, Doolin. Deep black with red tints and a typical creamy nitrogen head. The aroma is mild roasted malt. The flavour is pleasant and more interesting than the aroma, with roasted malt and touches of coffee and cocoa. I distinctly remember thinking it tasted like mushy peas at 9 years old (in a bad way) but Iím not picking up on this tonight--even after five pints. Typically dry and very lightly bitter Irish stout. More interesting than Guinness. What a journey beer is. Itís only a game, but itís the only game.

Gets off to a great start with a thick and creamy appearance. After that, it's pretty inoffensive with very little taste.

50 cl can from Tallinna Kaubamaja (Ä 1,70). Pours brown, appearing pitch black in the glass, and ruby against light. Head as expected - extremely thick, creamy, retaining, somewhat lacing. The widget makes it look great. Nose is stale roasted malts first and foremost, then mild chocolate, faint caramel and some coffee. Taste begins with some molasses dripped in water, a robust yet modest sweetness that then quickly turns into cold coffee and quite bitter earthy hops, ending in very dry roasty malts and some bitterness... might even say itís faintly sour. Dry - even ashy - palate, mouthfeel velvety smooth, body very light, carbonation non-existent. Watery. Not a big fan but itís good every once in a while when nothing better at sight.
