3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Typical nitrogenized stout, with initial sandy looking cascades. Otherwise it’s black, and the one finger head is permanent. Roasted toffee and nut aroma. Basic dark malty taste, mainly coffee notes. Unfortunately overly light and watery, and not very dry. Preferable to the ’other’ Irish stout for flavor, thought not body.

En fût. Noire avec reflet rouge. Nez: chocolaté. Malté. Vanille. Bouche: crémeuse. Chocolat. Légèrement sucré quoi qu'elle fini bien sec. Facile à boire. J'aime bien.

Tap on-board the Stena Hollandica on a trip back home to the Netherlands. Poured a deep mahogany with a big frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, nutty. The flavour is medium bitter with a slightly watery malt light hop spice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. It’s not too bad at all I have to say. Nice and refreshing, plenty of flavour and a spicy kick.

Can, pours black with a beige head, slight bitter of coffee, malt, and chocolate, dry finish, not bad and I would have it again but I prefer Guinness to this one.

Creamy, smooth, mild, mellow, light, refreshing, pleasantly dry, sessionable, very enjoyable mild stout. Had it in the 14.9 oz.widget can (try pouring it into a 16 oz. glass, it won’t fit because of the nitro head). Way ahead of Guinness, and to my taste better than most overdone, too strong, too hoppy, too clever by far American Stout variants. A classic.

I went to ireland and found this beer in small pub in the country. Pretty good on tap , missing a little in the flavor department but very drinkable. Nice malts and chocolate flavor.

Too blunt and tasteless for me. The taste and smell has lots of chocolate and some hops. Quite watery. Expected much more from a Irish Stout. Not bad, but not special either.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20

Pint at Stout Irish Pub (Toronto). Aroma of roasted barley. Taste is of barley, chocolate and hops. Similar to Guinness. It was better in my memories.

It tastes like Guiness. Watery at first then tobacco and coffee. Not my favorite stout.

Shared, widgeted,16 oz. can, poured to snifters showing a black/brown color, with an ultra creamy head of persistent foam, and an equally lasting, silky coat of lacing. The aroma was a rather mellow but full nose of dry-roasted coffee, light prune, a hint of caramel, and nitro assisted, creamy malt. With low carbonation, the taste was smooth on the palate, continued the roasted coffee, moderate, earthy bitterness, and added hints of baker’s chocolate, and char/smoke. An excellent follow up to a fine St. Pat’s Day platter of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and kale potatoes enjoyed at Lunar Brewing Co..
