Pours a finger of light tan head on a black body.
The aroma is black licorice, roasted malt and milk.
The taste is mild with light roasted malt and milk. Finishes with a mild bitter note.
The texture is smooth with a medium body.
It hits the right notes for a milder stout. Quite enjoyable.

Happily, Murphy’s is a lot more than just a substitute for Guinness Draught. There are definite similarities, though. They look almost identical and share the benefit of nitrogen-infused cans. You’ll also notice their likeness in the taste, too. Like it’s more famous Irish counterpart, Murphy’s has a light aroma of roasted barley with a bit of cocoa. The taste is rich, creamy, and roasty. The main differences appears in the finish and mouthfeel. Guinness has that distinctly dry finish. Murphy’s, on the other hand, has an amazingly smooth mouthfeel. All right, that’s enough of the comparisons. The bottom line is that Murphy’s is a tasty, smooth stout with only 4% ABV. To me, that’s everything I need to know.
