It’s not that it is a bad stout, but just that there is nothing special about it.

From tap at The Bristol Pub, Thessaloniki. Black color with light beige creamy head. Light roasted malty aroma, light coffee, light caramel. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium creamy body with flat to soft carbonation.

A great example of the style. If you like the nitro effect of a stout on draft, you should try this. Murphy’s makes a classic light stout that can be enjoyed anywhere anytime. Additionally, its smooth mouth feel and lower level of carbonation means that a couple of these could go down easier than you’d think.

Insanely beautiful beer. Pitch black with a beige colored foam that probably lasts longer than you need to finish the beer. The taste is blackish body and watery. Boring if drunk.

From the draught can. A full 5 in appearance. Black with a creamy beige head that is perfectly stable. Roasted malt, ashes, coffee. Taste is coffee and a bit milk, with a bit of a crisp bitterness in the finish. A bit watery mouthfeel, like many stouts. Super-smooth ale carbonation, near-flat. Ok. Dry stouts are just generically boring I guess. Still quite enjoyable.

On Tap in a pub in Amsterdam that wasn’t exactly memorable...so I forgot the name. Roasted Malts on the aroma, burned caramel and dark, winter fruits. Much the same on the taste, but possibly with an addition of milky tastes.

Tap. Very dark reddish brown with very creamy thick long lasting head, looks great. Nice roasted taste, dry malts, touch of grapes and apple, dry burnt bitter finish. Light watery body and feel.

Imagine my surprise when I picked up my usual 2 cases. And noticed that its now in an American Pint size. Guinness did this a while back. I popped one open and thought it was flat. Poured it out and got another and that was the same: No longer brewed in Ireland this is now produced in Scotland. Now the Scots can make good beer. But this overly carbonated swill is NOT Murphys. Its taste is flat as any American beer eg Bud. Dreadful. So its back to Guinness for me. Which is a shame because Murphys was so much better than Guinness : A nice coco /coffee flavor , deep full body But alas no more.
