I tried this on tap at one of the local taverns in Fond du lac Wisconsin. The bartender in Irish's is kind of a dick, but anyways, The beer was dark almost black. Smelled very good and tasted even better. It was very creamy and chocolatety. It's like I always say, "I like beer."

From can. Decent light stout. The one you can drink and not be worried about getting drunk. Easily drinkable.

On-tap. Pours a black color with a tan head. Smell of roasted malts and dark chocolate. Taste is similar to nose with mild bitterness. Smooth, creamy, and dry. Nice.

Murphy’s is the great rival of Guinness, though I cannot understand why Beamish, which is a far better alternative to Guinness, is not. Regardless, Murphy’s stout is a good standby when Guinness or Beamish is not on tap. It is definitely the heaviest of the three common stouts in Ireland. Aroma is slightly smoky, chocolatey. Looks darker than a Guinness, little more of a tan/brown head, less light can shine through the murk. Taste is distinctly chocolate, coffee, and malt, with a bitter aftertaste. Creamier than a Guinness, but a bit oily on the tongue I find. Carbonation is nicely minimal. Overall, not a bad stout, but not a fan of the pronounced chocolate flavors inherent in it.

Can. Faint aroma eith cocoa and coffee. All black with a small thick light brown foam. Taste has a lot of coffee and some chocolate. Malts dominate the taste. Low alcohol content shows but doesnt really matter. Really close to Guinness. Could be stronger.

One of my favorite stouts. Similar to Guinness, but with a nicer flavor profile. It has a mild slightly burned caramel finish is especially like. Not very thick or heavy, quite fresh for a stout. Too bad it’s very hard to get it over here.

Pours a black with a tan head. A strong coffee aroma and after taste. However, it is a little watery, similar to Guinness in the US.

Draught at Murphy’s promo in Beamish & Crawford. Pours a deep brown with a half-inch nitro head. No aroma due to the nitro, very slight hint of toast. Taste is mostly sweet (toasted malt, chocolate, a hint of cinammon) with a touch of coffee bitterness. A little thinner on the mouthfeel than one would expect, with a light sweet aftertaste. Not the worst of the macro Irish stouts, but nowhere near in the league of Beamish.
