COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A recently created style in the USA, Icon 2IPA is made in the American/Imperial Indian Pale Ale Style. Icon 2IPA is an extreme beer - extensive hopping creates intense citrus/passionfruit/peppery characters in the flavour and aroma balanced by sweet biscuity malt, which finishes with full bodied, rich and with a rounded bitterness. At 7.5% alcohol, Icon 2IPA is a beer to be savoured.

Pours a cloudy orange with a tall frothy off-white head. Aroma is quite fruity with citrus and passionfruit coming out most along with some nice hop character. Taste is also quite fruity with some biscuity notes leading to a well balanced bitter finish. Lovely soft mouth feel. Great IPA.

ComradeK (1052) - The Vale of Dundas, AUSTRALIA - DEC 12, 2011
330ml bottle. Pours a cloudy golden brown, with a huge off-white head, which lasts very well, and leaves good lacing. The aroma is somewhat muted by the head, but does feature faint caramel malt notes sitting over a base of potent pine resin and grapefruit hops. Strong pine and tangy lime hops, with some hints of pepper, introduce it, before giving way to a surprisingly smooth and slightly sweet body of caramel and a touch of toffee. Powerful lime and spice hops flavours create a strongly bitter finish, with a lingering spicy aftertaste. This is a nice DIPA; not as over-the-top as some others, but with enough bite to push it over the line from being a standard IPA. It is a bit more easy-drinking than others in the style, but it certainly doesn’t lack flavour.

Scopey (7444) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2011
Bottle from GBBF 2011. It pours hazy deep orange-gold, with a thick white head. The nose is orange citrus fruits (particularly mango), pine, orange sherbet and creamy. The taste is sweet orange, zesty tangerine, tangy marmalade, sherbet, resin, pine, big bitterness, leather, oily hop, spice and light alcohol warmth, with a tangy citrus-dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. A well balanced, high drinkable, zesty double IPA.

INDASTRIA (129) - Berlin & Rome, GERMANY - SEP 14, 2011
Bottle. Honey/copper color, white head. hop (not that much), caramel, nuts aroma. On the palate i got caramel, nuts, toffee mostly, with a hint of hop and fruity character. Usually i don’t like the IIPA caramel notes but in this case it was just ok and not annoying. Medium body, ok carbonation, quite bitter. very light and enjoyable IIPA, really refreshing.

Pyobon (977) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 24, 2011
(Bottle) Poured hazy copper with good off-white head. Beautiful delicate aroma of flowers and tangy fruit. Medium body with full carbonation. The flavour has a well balanced start with malt and caramel complementing refreshing citrusy notes. This start moves rapidly to a strong, but pleasant, bitter hop finish that stays around. Overall a great IPA, but a bit too heavy on the hops for my taste.

0.33 l bottle from GBBF2011. Sweetish citrusy aroma lemon, nuts, toffee and cranberries. Bittersweet nutty, grassy and citrusy flavor with warming alcohol. Strong bitter, nutty, grassy and slightly soapy finish. Might have lost some freshness.
