Tap (extracted from bottle, Biero Melbourne). Great beer. Aromas of biscuit, caramel, and grass. Taste is sweet, with a long-lasting bitter finish. Palate is velvety, with a medium body. Amber, with a frothy white head.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330mL bottle, BB 08/11. Pours clear dark gold with a thick off-white head that settles down to a thin covering and leaves a little lacing. Aroma of citrus, passionfruit and caramel. Medium sweetness and bitterness, some hop flavour, sweeter and less bitter than expected. Medium bodied, average carbonation, fairly creamy with a lingering but slightly dulled finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark amber orange under a thick white head, very inviting. Sweet tropical aromas. Sweet malt a first sip then quite a long resinous, spicy hop hit. Alcohol very present and warming. Very much like this and dont know of an Aussie 2ipa to compare. Awsome sipper.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2010 Now donít get me wrong - this is good but itís again a very malt heavy beer which seems to be the norm for this style in Australia. Nose is nice and ballsy and the initial sips are very enjoyable, but as it warms the malt comes to the fore and tends to dominate too prominently. I would personal knock this down to about 6.5% and keep the hopping regime as is. Difficult to get hold of too..if this was regularly available I would probably drink quite often. So in summary good, but not great. Rerate Bottle. This was quite poor and heavily malty. I hope this was a bad bottle.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2010 Tap. Amber, with a small but dense cream head. Aroma: nectarine, pear, caramel under resin and grapefruit. Pretty inviting - it certainly doesnít whack you with hops. Just creamy mouthfeel. Big caramel, mild tropical sweetness backed with initially modest but aromatic bitterness. Citrus and resin build and linger. Big, but not loud. Low-key for the style and very drinkable. [3.9]
Bottle, 9C. Clear amber with a creamy light beige head. Big but far from brash fruity and pine aroma has nectarine and kumquats. Taste has those and some solid biscuity malt. Not that much bitterness compared to the aromatic hops, but thereís enough. Pretty harmonious for this sort of thing.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2010 Fantastic beer. Anything from this brewery is special.
Big hoppy taste. Very attractive looking beer. Makes you want to guzzle the whole glass just based on itís look. The hops taste fresh and mold beautifully.
This Double IPA doesnít exactly blow your head off with bitterness, but certainly has zing!

Not for the faint of heart . A big hit of that citrus hop aroma, orange amber in colour and hazy. Strong bitter hop taste and aftertaste that lingers for some time with a touch of the 7.5% alcohol hit. This is not a session beer, but a beer to be savoured. If you like bitter beers with tons of flavour, the you must give this beer a try. Not easy to get, itís a seasonal beer, but worth the effort.

Draught. Bitter & Twisted Beer Festival. Pours a nice deep bronze with minimal slightly offwhite head. Big aromas of citrus, pine and resiny hops. Some malt sweetness and a little alcohol also. Flavour initially shows some citrus from the hops. followed by the sweet malt and caramel flavours and finally comes the resiny hops. Not quite as agressive as would have thought but still an excellent beer. Very excited for the bottle I have stashed away.
