26th August 2011 Hazy deep amber beer. Tidy white head. Creamy malt nose with a trace of caramel. Light palate, fluffy with fine carbonation. Nice caramel malt background. Nicely balanced hops that start sweet and piney but morph into bitter grapefruit. Semi dry finish with a mild bitter linger. Good stuff.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Gramoit (252) - AUSTRALIA - JAN 10, 2013
One of my favourite ipas, finally got around to rating this. Got a growler of this from there Bobs farm brewery. It is a big ipa, whither plenty if flavour and medium to high bitterness. Very good!!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 phrostyboi (2) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 30, 2012 does not count
first ’review’ if you call it that for me, picked up a 330ml bottle at a local, not quite sure what to make of it or if i’ve got a dud bottle or not
the texture and flavours remind me of abbey ales, seems to be overly carbonated for an IPA style
reminds me of the yeasty caramel I find in abbey beers, the head on this I found to be huge, took a few minutes to pour a glass of it as I had to let the head settle 3 or 4 times
very long bitter type finish with a slight aftertaste of alcohol
not so sure of this one but would have it again
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 CitrusP (47) - Newcastle, AUSTRALIA - NOV 23, 2012
Pours a dark amber with a small off white head. Big aroma of mango and caramel, with a little piney hop character, smells very fresh. Mango and caramel come through in the taste, with the slight sweetness balanced by a lively, peppery hop character. heavy on the palate to start with, balanced by a fairly sharp and lively bitterness. bitterness and peppery character linger on for a fair while. One of my favourites when very fresh. Excellent.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 apcandrew (46) - Gold Coast, AUSTRALIA - SEP 9, 2012
Pours dark amber with a thin but creamy white head. Bold flavours of citrus and pepper with a bitter aftertaste.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 fletchfighters (821) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 7, 2012
Not really a DIPA more more of a bigger IPA. Still a good beer and the benchmark for Australian IPA’s. Lots of pine and citrus notes. At times can have a bigger malt backbone than needed. Still a solid beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 DeliriumT (330) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - AUG 3, 2012
Pours a hazy copper colour with almost no head. The smell is sweet and sugary with pine needle freshness. The flavour is caramel and fresh hops. More on the grassy pine side of the spectrum than the fruity citrus side.
