4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jonnyguns (384) - - DEC 7, 2012Tap at Murray's at manly. Deep copper pour little head. This beer packs a punch! Straight away can smell fresh New Zealand hops with loads of grapefruit and citrus fruits. Taste is well balanced with a malty bitter finish rounding off the aggressive hop presence. Really easy to drink at 9.2%. I like this a lot

31st August 2011 Cloudy amber beer, small cream coloured head. Smooth silky palate. Rich beer! Nice caramel malt base. Rich deep hops! Slightly briney like a big barleywine but with sweetish peach and mango. Finishes with more caramel malt and a drop of aniseed. Very nice.

On tap at the Alehouse Project. Great beer, complex and balanced. Aromas of caramel, grass, chocolate, biscuit, and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet and bitter, with very long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Amber, with a thin head.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fletchfighters (817) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 14, 2012
A-- Poured a golden amber color, very short lived, under half one finger of off white head. Became off white film. Upon swirling would get brief flashes of the head, not much more.
S-- Peach, apricot, passion fruit, orange and peach blossom. Has a decent nose.
T-- Peach blossom, apricot, orange in the taste. Big floral taste to this, followed by Carmel stone fruit and some lemon and lime tartness to finish in the taste.
M-- There is grapefruit but it is very reserved. Lots of peach and passion fruit with lemon and lime tartness and acidity. Lime tartness lasts quite a while in the feel before I get a finish of carmel. Low carbonation and big body but not over the top at all.
D-- Just does not work for me.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 ALLOVATE (2098) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - JUN 2, 2012
Pour needs a good rouse to get any foam to form. What it manages it is quick to lose as it wanes back to a mere island of cream atop a cloudy burnished orange body. Strange note of play-doh, rotting guava flesh, and mango and tomato V8 juice plagues the otherwise deeply citric nose. It is a thick waft more reminiscent of a drink I would have alongside my eggs Benedict in the morning than an IIPA. Similar in the mouth; sticky, sickly sweet citrus juice dominates. Quite a raspy and hot note of higher alcohols in the back. Finishes with a burn and dries right out. Body is cumbersome, syrupy and oily. Pinewood, bitter orange zest, grapefruit, butterscotch, all linger long between sips being its only complexity. It simply tastes of Berri™ Breakfast Juice. I had just finished their sublime ’Punch & Judy’ ale expecting grandeur of this one. Just doesn’t work at all. One dimensional at best! (33cL, BB 05/04/13, Cellarbrations Carlisle)
