Salty and yeasty aroma. In theme with the port stepehns tribute. Very bitey taste, hint of chili or ginger spiciness. I actually like how well the beer’s taste compliments the idea behind it. That being said its not sessionable for me out of the bottle, maybe on tap would prove less intense.

Pours golden in color but smells of Vegemite/marmite like some darker beers. Hints of Vegemite & grapefruit in the taste too but tastes somewhat watered down. I can see that this is meant to be a session beer and wouldn't be a bad choice for this option.

330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Cloudy hazy golden yellow colour with lots of dirt-like yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head with full white foam which lasts for about 40 seconds; Good sticky lacing and slight carbonation; Fragment aroma of orange, mango, yellow fruits, light malt, yeast, very faint citrus and light grass; Light sweet taste of ale malt, with hidden tartness, very light grapefruit, dry biscuits, light yeast, faint wet cardboard (not annoying), faint citrus and pleasant light grass; Mid to light body, quite watery palate; Mouth feel is wheat-thinned light English Ale, with minimal fruity character, malty and yeasty plus some hint of wet cardboard to boot. Okay; Tartness is subtle, moderate and becomes stronger with further sips; Hoppiness is pretty strong grapefruit, orange and light grass nose, very light fruit and light touch of grassy hops in taste. Bitterness is minimal, rather muted finish; Quite dry after taste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: A decent wheat ale with quite heavy leaning towards the Ale side, it doesn’t makes me ‘wow’ but certainly makes a comfy sessioning after sushi dinner. At least worth a try.

Murray's is such an important brewer in Australia and this is probably his most accessible beer but it fails to reach any heights. It looks good with a cloudy straw colour and white frothy head. There are faint aromas of hops and other classic wheat beer elements such as orange peel and banana, but nothing too exciting. Similar flavour profiles but none of the complex bitter/sweet/sour elements that come through in a quality wheat beer. I know it's not based on the Belgian or German style where this is more pronounced but it still lacked much interest.

Sitting at the taphouse on flinders st. Nice refresher on a warm day. Fruity banana like notes. I dig it.
