Pours deep black with a rich, coffee brown head. Cocoa powder aroma. Sweet, sharp and light up front, dissipating into a medium heavy, smooth, flatly carbonated dark chocolate bitter finish. Big alcohol is warming but not detectable in taste. Excellent.

330ml bottle. Pours as black as coal and just as thick. Great dense coffee coloured head and big rich chocolate aroma with vanilla and aniseed. Thick in the mouth and oh so good. This is all beer and more.

Squealer on a stormy September night. Pours like jet black oil with a large fluffy mocha head. An amazing aroma of chocolate with a slight hop fruitiness and vanilla essence notes.. WOW. Firstly i get an alcohol warmth on the tongue and then that amazing chocolate flavour followed by a lingering bitter espresso hit. What an amazing beer.

A-- Poured black, almost ink black. Dark one finger brown sugar head that slowly faded away. Just a touch over film when it finished settling. Really good head retention to this when swirling. Imposing looking beer.
S-- Dark and thick. Dark chocolate, coffee and sugar. Very straightforward.
T-- Coffee, baking chocolate and more chocolate. Once again very straightforward.
M-- Thick and rich but and a bit of acidic coffee finish. Lots of bitter chocolate and coffee but at times gets a little thin. It works well though. Do get the occasional vanilla flash. Think it is still developing though. ABV is very well hidden. Low carbonation and heavy feel. Finishes a bit dry.
O-- Real good RIS. Best to age it though

Taste buds worked over time with this one, Loads of chocolate and coffee but with a nice hoppy finish. Full Bodied with the alcohol hidden well this is a another ripper from Murrays.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2012 Re-rate: After my first try I was so impressed. However, the past x3 (x1 tap at murray’s x 2 bottle) drinks have been less than impressive. It is let down by a lack of complexity. You are teased for the first moments the beer is in your mouth, then it disappears. I need more body in my RIS. Still the best stout in Australia.

Bottle 33 cl, Slowbeer. Pours pitch black with a great diminishing creamy brown head leaving lace. Aroma is malty, roasted, dark fruits, soy, coffee, fruity and bready. Flavor is velvety fullbodied, roasted, slightly sweet and malty in front, more bitter fruity and coffee in middle and bittering getting stronger and pungent towards the end. Finishes bitter malty coffee and fruity.
