COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
""""Inspired by the great stouts favoured by Russian Imperial Court, Murray’s “Wild Thing” Imperial Stout is a beer fit for a Czar. A massive, intense drinking experience. The colour is black. Totally black. The heart of darkness. Impossible to see through even when held up to the light – nothing insipid about this beer. Aromas of strong dark chocolate, a little fruitiness from the hops and yeast and some rumminess from the alcohol. The flavour is an intense hit of mocha – bitter dark chocolate bordering on coffee. Some malt sweetness but an aggressive hop bitterness and roast grain bite to balance. And then there’s the mouthfeel… Full bodied is an understatement. Massive mouthfillling malt that almost overwhelms, before the freight train of the bitterness from the hops and the roast acidity kicks in to clean up the palate. A tiny batch of a huge beer – only 1100 bottles brewed. A beer to savour if you dare!""""

Pours pitch black with HUGE amounts of brown head; too much head really. Rich chocolate ice cream aroma. Body is very light for the weight of bitter rum’n’raisin that follows. I guess you could call the body "silky" but the amount of head and lightness of the body means that despite the darkness of the flavours and colours it doesn’t *feel* like a stout, let alone an imperial one. It’s good, but not quite there. But, mmm, in the meantime the very rich chocolatey, creamy aftertaste is very drinkable. A winner on everything but palate.

Opaque black - brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy and mildly dry. Mild fine carbonation. Nice dark malts, light in feel but rich in taste. Little dark malt cream and smooth mild dark chocolate. Finishes smooth and pretty dry with the malts turning slightly bitter. Interesting and tasty.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Paul. Pours rich black-brown with a foamy tan head. The aroma holds mild char, dark fruits, some toast. Medium to big sweet flavor, some burnt caramel, earth, burnt wood, dried dark fruits. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Rich chocolate on the finish, moderate roast, dark fruits. Solid.

Bottle thanks to me. 2011. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is rich coffee, chocolate, earth, cake, gateaux and general filth. The taste is rich, roasty, coffee, dark chocolate, dirt, ash, burnt wood, treacle, filth and muck with a dry, sweet finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Rich and filthy.

Pours darkest brown with not much carbonation, small mocha head that quickly recedes leaving a soapy brown film. Aromas include charred steak, mocha coffee and some caramel. Taste is bittersweet dark chocolate, a little toffee, then coffee bitter and dries out with peppery charred meat in the finish. Didn’t get any of the purported rumminess or fruitiness. Nice full body and mouth coating. Good Australian imperial stout.

Pours near black with a thin golden brown foam ring that clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma of brown sugar, toffee, coffee and chocolate. Full bodied and rich. Lovely sweet taste coats your mouth with enough support from roasty bitternes and alcohol warmth, which leads into a satisfying finish.

Appearance - black with some tan head. Aroma is mild dark malt character. Taste is very smooth dark malt, mild soy, bitterness - great straight up imperial stout - subtle but full. Not big on the mouth but makes it very drinkable. Nice malt lingering. Overall, great Australian imperial stout.

Pours opaque black with a mocha head. Low carbonation. Interesting nose with dark chocolate, coffee and boozy/rummy notes detectable. Big body and flavour. Caramel malt sweetness up front. Bittersweet dark chocolate. Dried fruit. Complex. Rich. Roasty. Mouthwarming finish with some boozy/rummy notes. Delicious. One of the best from Shaun at Murrays.
