faroeviking (4589), Faroese Autonomous Beer Republic, Denmark Sep 5, 2008 Botella. BB 08.08.08. Pours pitch black with a nice big well lasting light brown head. The aroma is bustling with dark chocolate and coffee along with softly roasted malt and and a soft pleasant sweetness. Great mouthfeel. The flavour has a mild sweetness with lots of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasty coffee and malt along with some dark fruits. Long lasting choco mildly roasty malty finish. Yum! joergen (6821), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 26, 2007 Bottle.
Dark brown coloured with a beige head.
Light roasted aroma of chocolate and cocoa.
LIght roasted flavour of chocolate and cocoa with notes of dried fruits.
One dimensional. after4ever (1925), Brier, Washington, USA Dec 25, 2007 ,5 l. Thanks, Maria! Dated July 1, 07. Not sure if that’s bottled date, best by, minimum cellaring date, or what. Black. Dense, moussy tan head that falls quickly to a thin layer of foam with scattered stripes of lace. Big chocolate nose when you crack it, but it settles down to being nearly neutral aromatically after just a minute or two. Nice creamy medium+ body, but nothing too huge. Just well-placed and satisfying. Soft carb, very understated, but not forgotten. Rich roasty mid-palate, almost a bit of char, decent baking chocolate notes. Long, slightly chalky finish that’s actually pleasant (and seeing me say something nice about chalk is rare). Good little stout that’s way overshadowed by the titans of the style coming out of the woodwork around it. kramer (1956), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 12, 2008 50 cl bottle, via Papsoe. Pours a clear dark brown body under a small fizzy brown head. The nose is of chocolate malt, roast, and a slight chalkiness. Minimal chocolate flavor, roasty and slightly astringent. Finishes very dry with some burnt malt and moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with watery texture and moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, an average Stout. I was expecting alot more chocolate flavor because of the name and label, but that was really a pretty minor part of the beer. Maria (4772), Thisted, Denmark Jun 21, 2007 It’s a black beer with a light brow, creamy head. the aroma has clear, but light, notes of chocolate, and I’m a bit disappointed. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, light sweetness and a nice bitterness with burnt notes of coffee in the finish. It’s OK, but I had hoped for an ultimate beer for chocolate lovers, but actually the overall impression is quite light. 2238
