A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong roasted aromas, which lends it a bit of acidity, but also lighter notes of coffee and prunes. The flavor is sweet and very dry from the roasted malt, besides the strong roasted malt note, there’s notes of chocolate, and light notes of coffee. The end is dry and bitter. For the style I find it boring.

Papsoe (25129) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 9, 2006
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours an opaque almost black with a small, beige head. Aroma of hard roasted malt and an almost vinous touch - some dried fruits. Quite full and solid body with lots of roasted malt - perhaps also some touches of chocolate - bitter chocolate. Dry and alcoholic finish, but fortunately not overly burned. Pleasant and very well balanced. 081006

Bottle, 8.2%. Roasted, sweet liquorice, cough syrup aroma. Black colour, no head. Sweet and full-flavoured, but with some cardboard. Has quite an alcohol bite to the aftertaste, a bit rough.

Black with a good head. Smooth, filling, soft - could be a bit heavier/fatter. Heavy roast - mainly biter coffee but also some chocolate & liquorice. Dry bitter end. Very good!
