TheEnemy (387), Chicago, USA Oct 28, 2007 On tap.
Pours a dark red-brown with tightly-packed tan head. Aroma of roast grain with hints of coffee and toffee.Flavor also gives up coffee and a touch of toffee with toasted grain, a judicious dose of rich malt, a hint of raisin and a touch of alcohol. Medium-light body and slightly thin, flat mouthfeel. On the better side of average; would make a decent session beer.
incutrav (533), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Dec 26, 2007 A few pints of this went down, as well as a growler purchased at the pub. Very dark, and lots of rich malts are present. I didnt get much in the form of coffee until it was at room temp. A decent porter for sure Skyview (3067), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 28, 2007 Sampled on draught at the South Shore brewery brewpub in Ashland, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark brown with a thick tan head that slowly disipates to a film and tan ring. Aroma is hardly present. I could just pick up a light roasted dark malt and some flowery hops. Even at warm room temperature the aroma was almost absent. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation with a slight metalic texture. Hardly any flavor but a mild metalic brown ale malt. Finish is watery with a slight metalic taste that quickly disappears.
