3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2008 Bottle fresh from the brewery.
Pour puts a clear deep golden lager in the glass with a decent 2 finger frothy white cap,
Bready malts and woody Nobel hops in the aroma...light whiff of sulphery lager yeast.
Sturdy malt spine, firm body, bready-woody character.
Nice chew of fresh bready malts in the front..nobels show to balance, decent middle with some sweetness, citrus, herbals tones tapering out to the thick finish which is slightly malt accented.
Fresh and bready tasting with just enough hopping to keep the sweetness at bay...the quintessential crafted all-malt lager..a deal at less than a buck a bottle and when fresh.

The pour is a light golden straw with a thin fizzy white head. Some moderate carbonation. The aroma is grainy with a light grassy hop and mostly cereal malt. Sweet and grainy with light hops. A slick and somewhat oily mouthfeel with no carbonation in the taste. Drinkable and fresh, but not much else.

Touch of hops, sugary. I didn’t detect anything premium, but maybe so much of the same at the Toronto Festival of beer will do that to you.

Clear, bright yellow. Fizzy white head that disappeared quickly. Light, sweet malt aroma. Light feel. Clean though relatively bland sweet, bready malt flavour w/ very low bitterness & some mineral.

6 X 355 ml cans. Lawnmower lager that doesn’t disappoint! Very clear light gold with nice lacy ’real looking’ white foam. Smells bready sweet and clean with notes of lemon and hay. Taste a surprisingly symphonic charge of sweet malts and fruit , vanilla, grape, lemon, and gentle bohemian-style hopping that rounds out an edge of dryness over a sweet and clean finish. The feel of the beer is excellent and I suggest drinking it lightly cooled to demonstrate that this very inexpensive lager has no defects and is not in any way metallic.

different and slightly better than I expected. most ontario micros make a piss lager, but this is pretty good in comparison. light brown colour. berry-ish aroma with a more pronounced raspberry taste and a hint of mustard seed/turmeric flavour. not bad.

Cannette 473 ml. 4.8%. Couleur jaune or avec une mousse blanche. Arôke de malt et de maïs. Goût très doux avec une bonne effervescence, légèrement sucré. Notes de céréales. Finale de houblon très légère. Froide quand il fait chaud, elle est très bonne.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Has a really odd taste that I wasn't expecting. Has a slight raspberry taste with a bit of an acidic bite like viniger and bitterness to it. Cloudy yellow gold. I don't think I would buy this again. Given to me or found in a bar full of labbats and molson I would have it though. Nothing special.

6 pack from the LCBO. Consumed in one evening. This beer is yet another great example of how buck-a-beers can actually be pretty damn tasty. Mediocre malt body, bland and standard, no adjuncts, but the hops really shine in this one. Really nice dryness, bitterness, and lemony aspect to the whole experience (all more or less at the same time). Makes a great party beer, or just a great casual sitting around, not-wanting-to-drink-an-Imperial-Stout beer. Giver a try. Ontario’s new slogan should be: "Ontario, land of buck-a-beers, which are actually pretty decent!"
