StompBrockmore (300), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 19, 2007 341ml bottle - pours clear amber gold with a nice white head. Aroma is surprisingly hoppy for the style actually, at least compared to other cream ales in Ontario. It’s balanced well with sweet/grainy malt, earthy notes, and a crisp breadiness. Medium body. Fruity, crisp flavour with a dry and hoppy finish. Some light bitterness at the end. For some reason I wasn’t expecting to like this very much, but an happily surprised. Great outdoor summer beer. VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 13, 2007 Updated: Nov 9, 2007341 ml bottle - pours a crystal clear amber with a thick, fluffy off-white head. Aroma full of sweet malt with some yeasty breadiness, and very fruity. Light fruits and sweet malt flavour, very smooth in the mouth with a very faint hop bitterness in the dry finish. Nothing exceptional, but pretty pleasing on all fronts, and highly drinkable. Good example of the style. daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada Dec 24, 2006 Aromatic nuts/bread to the nose. Poured clear amber with bubbly tan head, little lacing. Flavor of fresh bread and malted barley, lightly hopped. Palate is creamy, rich and enjoyable. Nice beer for any occasion. asheft (1374), Marburg, Germany Aug 26, 2006 [on tap at Ossawippi Express in Orillia, ON]
Almost clear, copper with a tawny white ring and lace. Excellent malt aroma with subtle raisiny lemon hops accentuating the caramel (which was not toffee-ish at all). Unfortunately, the flavour doesn’t hold up to the inviting flavour, but it’s still quite quaffable stuff: crips cream ale with a touch of caramel ending with some woody flavour that spices up the moderate bitterness. Perhaps a hint of diacetyl as well, that only helps with the flavour. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Clean. jingajinga (12), USA Aug 5, 2006 This is a great cream ale at least compared to Sleeman. I enjoyed the chasracter. lowg (123), Scarborough, Ontario, Canada Aug 3, 2006 341ml bottle, singles bin at LCBO. Poured amber with a thick off-white head that lasted pretty long with some decent lacing. Aroma was sweet bready. Taste was a little nutty, a little sweet, kinda bland; not much bittermess to the finish but clean and crisp. Overall nothing special - a typical micro Canadian cream ale. Above average. (Rating #534) Tessic (439), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Jun 18, 2006 This cream ale poured med amber colour with a white head. A nice scent with sugary malts and a bit of caramel. First sip was watery and bitter at the same time. Hoppy to the palate with a bitter finish.
Not bad but not the best cream ale I’ve had.
