Carmel malty to make it popular in Canada. Mid-sip hint of roast malt cream chocolate, but we are not talking about a stout or porter here, more medium mouthfeel. tupalev (2615), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Lots of caramel in the aroma and taste – it was quite thin though with little carbonation. I enjoyed it, right up until the finish – it was yeasty and a little sour. Now I should point out I bought this 6 pack from a very small town Ontario lcbo/beer store combo and this type of “micro” beer could have been there for quite a while (there was no date stamp). So I will re-rate on another occasion. But until then, I’m left with a beer that showed some promise, but ultimately failed to deliver. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 13, 2004 Bottle. Dark maple color, lasting head, clear. Decent malty/molasses nose. Not a heckuva lot of flavor unfortunately, just some boring light fruity (cherry) bits amidst the undistinguished maltiness, in a too-light body. A bit of odd sourness also detracts. Next! Malts come out without much interest, slightly sweet notes, with signs of oxidation. Body is light to medium. Uninteresting. piscator34 (1122), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

The aroma is vaguely sweet with some faint hops. Flavor wise it is sweet, but not overly malty. I detected some citrus notes as well, It lacks body, and has a short, watery finish. In spite of it's negative qualities, this beer still held my interest. Thanks Lubiere. maeib (4711), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

I was hoping for a black beer but got a mid brown schwarzbier like tasting beer. Not unpleasant and had some nutty qualities but nowt special. Tessic (450), Brantford, Ontario, Canada

Dark coffee colour and taste with other hints of dark malts and molasses. Slight burnt flavour to both. Finish is slightly bitter with continuing coffee notes. chickenman (5), USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 29, 2003 A great dark beer with after tastes of coffee. Goes down nice and is very refreshing for a dark beer
