3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Boutip (3294) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 28, 2009
Can: Poured a clear deep brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and not lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with notes of maple syrup. Taste is dryer then expected with clear notes of caramel malt and a maple finish. Body is a bit thin with good carbonation. Maple notes were surprising but overall a bit of a run of the mill beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DougShoemaker (3149) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 4, 2002
Roasted malt aroma, clear ruby colour, creamy toffee head. Roasted malt flavour, hint of caramel. Pleasantly bitter too. Good mouthfeel, well balanced. A very nice brown ale.

Bottle. I have mixed feelings on this one. Poured a nice brown colour, little head. Lots of caramel in the aroma and taste – it was quite thin though with little carbonation. I enjoyed it, right up until the finish – it was yeasty and a little sour. Now I should point out I bought this 6 pack from a very small town Ontario lcbo/beer store combo and this type of “micro” beer could have been there for quite a while (there was no date stamp). So I will re-rate on another occasion. But until then, I’m left with a beer that showed some promise, but ultimately failed to deliver.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gusler (2655) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAY 30, 2002
Deep garnet in color, beige head and generous lace, the nose is sweet, carmel, coffee, and malt. Front is sweet, the top medium, the finish is highly acidic, somewhat sour, fair hop bite, different, I will give it that.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GregClow (2645) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 8, 2004
Sampled at the Toronto Festival Of Beer 2004. Brown-amber colour with a wispy tan head. Aroma is a little roasty with some caramel notes, and a bit of sourness. Body is moderate, a little creamy. Flavour is decent, with some coffee and chocolate notes, and a lingering roasty finish.

holy hell, a brown ale? this beer is black! If i didnt know i would think this is a porter. Very small beige head, a slightly fruity aroma, with some roasted malt, and a touch of hops. Smoky flavour, more roasted malt, and some nice hops in the finish. Smooth in the end, wow, i’m very impressed! I’ve had a few of this breweries beers, and they are pretty subpar, but this is very nice.
