473ml can from 5 pack mixer pack. Taste is of smokey chocolate and coffee. Not much too the nose. Overall probably the best I’ve sampled from this micro.

Matt7215 sent me this from the Great White North. Thanks, eh! 473 ml can, maybe 16 oz.? Dark brown pour that’s not obscured. Thick dense tan head. Nose is sweet dark malt with a hint of lagery bitter. Taste is roasty sweet and bitter malt quickly trailing. Long lingering afters, but still clean. Enjoyable.

Roasted malt aroma, clear ruby colour, creamy toffee head. Roasted malt flavour, hint of caramel. Pleasantly bitter too. Good mouthfeel, well balanced. A very nice brown ale.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2007 Bottle:
Deep Chestnut brown with red highlights...ample frothy mocha cap.
Very pungent aromas of malt cocoa and grassy hops.
Malty up front, good balance in the middle with some Golding "bite" some complexity with a deep cocoa tone to it.
A very decent dark ale. Mellow tastey and drinkable

341 mL bottle. Dark chestnut brown with, unfortunately, just a ring of head. Very nice aroma of chocolate, coffee, roast, and a little smoke. Taste is slightly sweet, nutty, with roast, coffee, and again, a little smoke. Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. A little hop bite at the end, but not much. Not bad.

[1996-20090214] Tap. Some roasty grains aroma. Dark brown body with a small long-lasting creamy light tan head. Roasted chocolate malt flavour has a sweet finish. Medium-full body. Enjoyable, quite drinkable.

On tap at Volo. In contrary to the rating here, I have to give this beer some credit. This is the only dark beer I have come across that drinks down smooth. For those of you who hate lagers, but like smooth beers that are easy to down, this one is it. Perhaps a bit dangerous at that. Tastes like a mild oatmeal stout, medium bodied, with almost no aftertaste. A must try!

341 ml bottle froma trade with jessem. pours very dark brown with a mid tn head. very nice roast malt aroma with some vanilla, quite inviting. the flavour isnt quite as good. its a little bland, some roast malt, a touch of smoke, but overly thin. the palate is to thin and without the body you are let down after the delightful nose. its a passable brown ale but one that ill pass on in the future.
