3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample pack bought, 355ml bottle poured dark dark brown to almost black, medium head, average carbonation. Aroma is chocolate, earthy, musty, all in one, strange. Taste, chocolate, coffee roast dark. Texture is oily, creamy, finish is strait up coffee/chocolate linger. Not bad overall, I like.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark black with beige head and good lacing. Smells nutty with some chocolate very light smoke. Taste is more on the roasted side. Lots of roasted malts, chocolate, some hazelnuts and like the nose some very light smoke notes. Low to medium body and medium carbonation. Reminds me i need to buy Nutella...

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
This is an ok, dark, somewhat nutty ale. Flavor of dark roastiness, not approaching coffee, more like burned caramel. Picked it up in Toronto in spring, 2013.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is not really a brown ale. The ale is much darker than that and sweetness is not predominant. Nonetheless, this is a pretty good offering for a brewery in Canada. Very dark in appearance with a promising head that disappears rather quickly to leave a thin tan cream. The aroma is a straightforward mix of malt and coffee and burnt toast. Light and a little thin on the palate with a good amount of carbonation, but the bubbles are a little too coarse for a beer this dark. The taste is predominant burnt toast and coffee with upfront bitterness and subtle sweetness. Certainly not cloying in any way. Very good balance of flavours. Goes down well. Well done, Muskoka. Well above average for Canada.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
It’s awesome that this beer came with a patch or merit badge. Very dark almost black pour with tons of foamy head that fades very quickly. Strong malty scent. Heavy yet easy to drink. Full bodied and flavourful. Lots of malt that goes to caramel and dark bitter chocolate. Very enjoyable beer.

A tad fruity. Best cottage country brewery. Good choice for training wheel transition off lager. Works well stuffed up the rear of a chicken. Keep the heat at 350 F. Sip as it sizzles.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Darkest ruby hued brown, foamy tan head settles and mostly fades. Sweet chocolate malty aroma. Lightly roasty sweet dark malt taste, chocolate caramel and coffee. Softly carbed, light-medium bodied, low hopped. Thins out a bit. Finishes sweet and malty. Decent. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Lancaster Smokehouse. Not much aroma to speak of, but the little there is has metallic and roasty notes. Dark brown, clear, little head. Taste is smooth, creamy, sweet, leading into some less-than-desirable flavours... metal and "cheap milk chocolate" is the best way I can describe it. I remember this being better, and was disappointed. This brewery’s newer offerings are vastly different from its older ones.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours deep brown with a soft butterscotch head. The aroma is of caramel, toasty malt, a bit of sulfur. The taste is toasty-malty, medium bodied with a hint of chocolate and a slight herbal hop finish. Nothing crazy, but this is pretty well-balanced.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark, roasted malts, bitter chocolate and slight coffee notes, very flavourful beer. I should have more of these in the fridge.
