3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ferfie (175) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 28, 2012
It pours a deep amber, small head forms, but really tight. Smell is really clean bready malt, the hop profile is very present in this. Its hard to place. Definitely some pine, very light citrus, some earthiness too. Almost smells like theres actually a bit of alcohol oomph in there, but perhaps its just a hop variety I’m not accustom to, as its only 6.4%. Taste has a really strong malt back bone. Bready malt, not overly sweet, maybe light caramel taste. Theres some good pine that surfaces throughout the flavour. Its not abrasive, in fact the bitterness is really really subdued in this beer so far. Bright orange like hop sweetness, again with little to no detectable bitterness, light piny hop that soon fades to a stronger citrus flavour. Its still has that bready character through out. I can taste quite a bit of flavour from the alcohol in this one. Its not at all boozy and doesn’t cause a burning, or even warming, sensation; but it adds a nice full flavour to the beer. I have to say as well that in the mouthfeel you can definitely get some carbonation, but its like the mouthfeel is a little bit thicker than the flavour profile, and makes it seem slightly less carbonated than it actually is.. Its hard to explain, its not flat or anything but its weird. Nice brew..

On tap at at Smokeless Joe in Toronto. Dark amber pour. Aroma of caramel, grass and citrus. Pretty smooh, medium body. Flavour is a little bit nutty and sweet. Straw and caramel. Finishes clean with a hint of lemon. Warms up nicely, got better as I went on.
