A dark reddish amber ale with a thick receeding moka head. In aroma, caramel malts, pinhey c-hops, quite nice and pleasant. In mouth, loads of caramel malts, with beautiful floral c-hops, grapefruit, nutty notes, a perfect harvest ale (in comparison to other recently tasted). Keep up the good work guys! Tasted Nov. 2010.

Pours a clear russet/bronzey colour with medium size bubbly head. Nice fruity, hoppy aroma. Floral hops is the biggest thing here, gentle maltiness in behind. Just enough to balance. Wonderfully fresh tasting. Lingering bitterness, little bit of sweetness on the finish too.

Bottle. Great brew with a richness and complexity I wasn’t expecting. Slightly golden, but murky amber with a moderate short lasting head. The nose was candy and with a nice amount of citrus. Slight caramel in the thinner than expected body. Would like to see this again next year with a bit more complexity and a thicker body.

750 ml swing-top bottle from LCBO, shared with Phil and James, served cold in a tulip glass. 23OC10.

App.: Cloudy orange-amber with a white rim. Aroma: A nice blend of pine/grapefruit hops and brown sugar, a bit of meaty/mashiness, some light minty herbals, cherries and berries, pretty nice. Palate: Medium body with sparse but prickly effervescence. Flav.: Green and dusty, white grapes, pine, a bit of grapefruit, some brown sugar, certainly less malt than the nose, resin, much less fruity than the nose too; dry with good bitterness and a pine/resin and slightly malty finish.

Quite nice and a welcome addition to the ON beer scene.

On tap at bierbistro. Copper colour. Thin lace head that held. Grassy aroma with dry hop coming through. Decent balance with caramel malt. Worth trying.

Nice brown ale from a brewery that’s getting better. Swingtop 750 ml bottle, pour released a lot of C02 as huge bubbles formed in the bottle. Aroma of caramel. Nice sweet flavour, maybe caramel apple? medium bitterness. Fresh, using local hops. I could drink a few of these sitting dockside with friends.

Terrific pale ale. Hoppy and bitter but refreshing and drinkable while retaining a good dense mouthfeel. It’s hard to find a beer that strikes the balance between drinkability and flavour as well as this one. Well done.

Cask Sample Toronto Beer Experience. Light amber pour with thin white head. A little sweet roast malt aroma. Medium to light bodied. Dry with bitterness in finish. Probably should try again.

750ml swing top bottle, slight cloudy amber hue, with a thick beige head, sweet toasted, biscuity, caramel malt, faint candied fruity nose of lemon rinds, with some mild toffee, cookie, dough notes, and some earthy floral hop citrusy accents in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, spicy, sweet fruity, toasted, caramel malt, earthy flowery hop leafy, grassy character with some herbal hoppy minty undertones and some hints of tobacco leaf, leading towards a malty, fruity citrusy, leafy, grassy hop bitterness finish.

750 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in an English pint glass. Pours clear dark amber with a frothy off-white head. The head fades slowly and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The aroma is sweet and fruity, with notes of caramel, flowers, pine and some citrus. The flavour is well balanced, beginning somewhat sweet and moderately bitter. By the end, it has become more internsely bitter with notes of leafy hops. The finish is average in length and fairly dry, with hop notes. It is medium-full in body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a nice fall ale: big in the body with a good dose of malt, but dry hopped for balance. I would definitely have another of these. 2010-10-29
