3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Metalchopz (1747) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 23, 2011
Big brown bottle with swing-top at the LCBO. Pours a deep amber colour with a full creamy-foamy off-white head that has great retention and decent lacing. At first pour, a hay smell is what comes out of this, but after breathing a bit, the hop comes out. Nicely balanced mouthfeel between wet and dry. The hop also shows up more and more as you sip it. Well-mixed with the caramel malt base. Quite easy to drink and pretty nice overall... just a tad expensive for a 6.4% brew (as that is the price for higher alcohol content beers in the same format - and this one, not being an import). A great English Pale Ale (being less bitter than APA).
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 yarry (497) - Waterdown, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 18, 2011
750m bottle, 6.4% a/v
Pours rich copper red/mahogony brown combo with a nice off white head. Gorgeous looking beer! The aroma is spectacular as well, spicy/grapefruit hops and a nice caramel malt background mix together very well. The taste is also spicy and citrusy, very hoppy but the malt backs it up. Not what I would expect from a "harvest ale" but still a very impressive beer. The mouthfeel is full and long lasting, and I will definitely be getting this one again soon!

Apperance: Transparent brown-orange, frothy beige head, high carbonation. Aroma: Very sprucey/grassy. Hints of soy sauce, herbs, hay and cereal. Palate: medium-bodied, very dry, even drier finish. Taste: fairly sweet, not very bitter. Not bad.

750ml brown swingtop. Pours clear orange colour with a large airy white head. Good patchy lacing. Spicy hops in the nose, bitter orange peels. Big malt character, slight earthy note, caramel malts, late citrus hops. Nice late bitterness, pleasant grapefruit notes and deep grassy aftertaste with lingering malt as well. Medium body and fairly active carbonation. Nice beer, and nice presentation.

Bottle bought at LCBO, Sept 6, 2011. Big, long lasting frothy head, smells of citrus, a little caramely. Beautiful amber colour. Citrusy, bitter hops on impact, a bit creamy and bubbly, bitter lingers on back of tongue. A hoppy ale for certain. Fresh and delicious.
