750ml bottle Big, long lasting frothy head, smells of citrus, a little caramely. Beautiful amber colour. Citrusy, bitter hops on impact, a bit creamy and bubbly, bitter lingers on back of tongue. A hoppy ale for certain. Fresh and delicious.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2014 A 750ml bottle of the 2013 vintage bought in October an cellared for 6 months. Pours a dark burnt orange. Fairly thick off-white head. Moderate lacing left behind as drunk. On the nose there are some definite grassy notes, some earthiness, and a hop presence, in the form of citrus emerging as it warms up. On the palate, earthy hops, balanced by a nice malt presence and a hint of caramel. Hints of citrus on the swallow. Overall, this is quite a complex beer, with an awful lot going on. Very hard to pigeon hole from a style perspective, and it seems to refuse categorization. Hard to ask for more from a beer drinking experience, and I will buy a couple of bottles of this, each Fall they produce it.

75 cl bottle @ Timo A.
Pours dark copper color, small head. Resinous hops on the nose, caramel malts, hay, toffee, pine needles and some sweet fruits. Sweet fruits and caramel, malts, nuts and resin. More like an American Strong Ale.

75 cl bottle vintage 2013 @ Timo A
Aroma is heavy and sweet with fruity notes and hints of hay. Flavour is sweetish with resiny notes, fruity hops and caramel. Heavy stuff, closer to an American strong ale than APA. And rather typical one.

750ml bottle @ Timo A. Thanks!

Pours dark amber orange with a thick white head. Aroma of bready malts, caramely malts, sweet syrup, grassy hoppiness and grapefruit. Taste is malty, bready and hoppy with hints of rye, syrup, spices and syrup. Finish is smooth, malty and stingy with some grassy notes, rye, spices and syrup. A bit unbalanced and stuffy, doesn’t feel very fresh.

Lagerboy (1171) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 15, 2014
750 ml corked and caged bottle. Opaque medium copper, off-white foam mostly lasts. Quite grassy, herbal hop aroma. Grassy citrus hop taste, lightly bitter evergreen, mild spice, yeasty and floral, mild unsweet malt. Average carbonation, medium bodied, more aggressively hopped. Finishes clean and dry. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

750ml bottle [2013 vintage]. Hazy, reddish, darkest copper colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of blood orange, orange, orange zest, a sweaty, resinous touch, caramel malty basis with bitter almond touch and hints of toffee. Taste is bitter hoppy, dry and minimally tart, hints of grapefruit and blood orange, a touch of hay, cautious malty basis with a touch of toffee. Minimally rough and dirty - really nice.

This seasonal pale ale is pretty enjoyable. Nice large bottle so it can be shared with friends. Nice hoppy aroma and flavor and not overly bitter.

served from bottle into pint glass - 2013 vintage A - slightly hazy copper/auburn, two fingers tan head that has great retention and slowly turns into a nice rocky covering to the beer, leaves amazing amount of lacing on the glass with amazing rings all the way down, passes medium amount of light S - heavy on the caramel malts, toffee, biscuits. earthy and piny, grassy hops off the pour which make way to some more orchard fruit type of smells as it warms, citrus, pineapple, mango T/M - malts, bread, caramel, toast, brown sugar, fruity hops, very sweet when it hits then tongue then the bitterness quickly takes over and dominates, herbal and piny hops linger in the mouth, medium mouthfeel, lowish carbonation, creamy, sticky, slightly astringent (as the hops take over from the sweetness of the malts), spicy bitterness, slightly dry finish o - a wonderfully crafted beer! i’ve had quite a few of these over the past couple months and since this was my last bottle i decided to give it a review. all i can say is i can’t wait til next year to get some more! so much happening in the complexity of this beer but doesn’t seem crowded. flavours seemed to be popping up with each sip. would recommend and buy again!
