tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2009 New single serve 500ml can, LCBO. Pours a nice light but hazy yellow with lots of streaming bubbles and a nice fluffy white head that does diminish too quickly. Nice clove, banana, yeast aroma - right on style. Taste is excellent - lots of banana and I think esters - not sure what those are, but that is the word that popped in my head, especially in the finish. Almost spicy in the finish as well. A beautiful Hefe - break out the re-ratings boys and drink this one all summer long, we finally have a solid Ontario made readily available Hefe! MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Apr 1, 2007 Updated: Jul 9, 2009Re-rate. 500 ml canned format. Pours a deep and muddy orange/brown. Topped with a huge froth of beige foam that dies down to a thin ring. Nose is huge on cloves and banana, lots of yeast, perfume, bubblegum, floral spices. This hefe delivers big Bavarian flavours. Lots of banana and yeast, bubblegum, some orange, cloves and other assorted spices. Creamy, well balanced. This is medium bodied and full on flavour, quite refreshing. A major step up. Excellent. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 6, 2009 Can: Poured a lightly hazy dirty orangey color ale with a rather large foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of bubblegum and banana is very nice. Taste is also a nice mix between some banana bread and bubblegum 3ith some quite delectable wheat malt. Body is about average with great carbonation. Very well done with some really interesting ester. JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada May 28, 2009 Updated: May 30, 2009473mL can from the LCBO, just in, as fresh as can be. Pours a nice cloudy light gold with a small white head (small for a Hefe). The aroma is awesome, perfect Hefe profile, almost reminds me of Denison’s. Sweet malts, hay, banana, clove, bubblegum, yeast, etc. Awesome. Flavour is equally awesome, very sweet the whole way through, malt body dominating subtle hops. Very big on the fruity esters and sweet, sweet malts, with a touch of dryness from the yeast, and rounding itself almost watery on the palate. Very nice, what a semi-rare treat. I feel like Hefeweizen is an ignored style in the OCB, though maybe that’s just because we get so many awesome imported versions as well as the domestic dominance in quality of Denison’s. Still, this is a very nice beer and I plan on buying plenty more to support it. Solid format too, I’ve never had a Hefe from a can before. wilderthanyou (410), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Jul 20, 2009 Pours a lightly hazy gold with a thin foamy head. The aroma is banana loaf, a touch of clove and yeast. The flavour is good, banana loaf, clove, some yeast, all and all very good. A touch of clove spice in the finish. An easy drinking, refreshing, tasty brew, good job Muskoka. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 28, 2006 Draft @ C’est What FOSB. Hazy pastel yellow, small moderate head. Lots of clove aroma, with mild banana. Flavour has a healthy dose of banana up front, and is swamped by assertive clove, only to have the banana sneak back and forth into awareness throughout the glass. Light bitterness. Average to medium palate is appropriate. Clove is more prominent than I like but this is a very decent hefe. kipdynamite (11), Canada Oct 5, 2006 Looks like a Hefeweizen, smells lika a hefeweizen, tastes like a hefeweizen...it is a hefeweizen. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 29, 2006 Draught sample at C’est What Spring/06 Festival of Small Breweries. Hazy golden yellow. Big yeast and clove notes on the nose, with some banana and some odd smokiness. Body is soft and smooth, very nice. Flavour starts mild, with vague fruit and spice off the top, followed by a HUGE hit of banana, and some citrus and clove notes in the finish. Nice to see these guys branch out into something different, and do a decent job with it.
