4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 neongolden (14) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 7, 2012
(355mL bottle from the LCBO) Served cool. Pours a clear pale gold with a thin, ephemeral white head. Quite substantial hops aromas - particularly tropical fruit (passion fruit sticks out), some citrus notes, grassy, crisp, mild grains. Taste is hop-forward, citrus notes dominate with some herbal notes, simple sweet malts with mild graininess give a little creaminess reminiscent of some tropical fruit to an otherwise crisp beer. Finish is fairly dry and bitter but not as strong as some IPAs. Quite quenching and acidic overall, relatively light body with moderate carbonation which could be lower. Nothing crazy here but a flavourful, refreshing and eminently drinkable IPA from a local brewery.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 dedelste (13) - Ontario, CANADA - JAN 31, 2012
Pours a nice golden colour, a bit cloudy. Citrus hops aroma. Taste citrusy hops, a bit of lemon, quite bitter. Nice.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Crockett (916) - Steelback County, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 17, 2012
Pours orange/amber with a little white head. Nose of hop, cereal, pine, apricots and pineapple. A vivacious fun and adventurous IPA from an area that usually doesn’t like to play with this style. Muskoka Brewery has come a long way. Unexpectedly boozey, compared to some other local offerings. Resiny, acidic and aggressive. Totally unbalanced, but malts are not forgotten at all. It’s high time that something like this has quietly wandered in. Very Drinkable. Holds its own. Delicious.

Bottled sample. Dark gold in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Aromas are of white grapefruit, orange, herbs, and minerals. Solid crispy pale malt base in the mouth, backed by more herbal and citrusy hops. Chunky solid bitterness. Nothing over the top, but a really solid and Chinook heavy IPA. Definitely one of the best Ontario IPA’s I’ve tried/
