4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Scoring beers this high makes me uncomfortable, but had this from tap at the Magpie (Dundas & Euclid)...very nice IPA. Stick your nose in the glass and it smells like pot. Hoppy, full and well-balanced throughout. Good backbone. Had back to back pints of this and Crazy Canuck; this won.

Makes me mad that there aren’t more beers like this. The barrage of citrus hops will knock your socks off, yet the underlying balance and flavour will keep you grounded.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
355 ml bottle. Background: its a warm March night in Canada. Warm enough to have a campfire and a beer. Actually hasnt been this warm in March since 1948. 18deg Celsius. Having a pipe and a Mad Tom with a friend straight outta the bottle. Cant comment on appearance. Aroma is amazingly citrusy. Like a lemon orchard. Strongest smelling beer Ive had! Tastes very much like grapefruit. Very bitter but mildly sweet finish. Actually, not bad at all (not a fan of IPAs generally). Tastes balance out better throughout the duration.

This is a great ipa. Bitter and a bit cloudy for the perfect ipa. Brewed by muskoka brewery right here in Canada.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Alléchant profil houblonné dès le départ avec ses notes d’agrumes, mangues et de pins. En bouche c’est très frais, peu malté avec une bonne dose d’amertume légèrement ferreuse. Buvabilité sans bornes.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Canada six-pack: Pours a rather light colour for an IPA, with a moderate white head. Aroma is citrus, but it has a strong malt backbone readily apparent there. Excellent hop profile in the taste. Not particularly bitter or extreme by any stretch, but very well crafted. There are no errors in this beer, just flavourful and easy drinking IPA. The fruitiness makes it a nice stand-out.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 17, 2012 (355mL bottle from the LCBO) Served cool. Pours a clear pale gold with a thin, ephemeral white head. Quite substantial hops aromas - particularly tropical fruit (passion fruit sticks out), some citrus notes, grassy, crisp, mild grains. Taste is hop-forward, citrus notes dominate with some herbal notes, simple sweet malts with mild graininess give a little creaminess reminiscent of some tropical fruit to an otherwise crisp beer. Finish is fairly dry and bitter but not as strong as some IPAs. Quite quenching and acidic overall, relatively light body with moderate carbonation which could be lower. Nothing crazy here but a flavourful, refreshing and eminently drinkable IPA from a local brewery.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours orange/amber with a little white head. Nose of hop, cereal, pine, apricots and pineapple. A vivacious fun and adventurous IPA from an area that usually doesn’t like to play with this style. Muskoka Brewery has come a long way. Unexpectedly boozey, compared to some other local offerings. Resiny, acidic and aggressive. Totally unbalanced, but malts are not forgotten at all. It’s high time that something like this has quietly wandered in. Very Drinkable. Holds its own. Delicious.
