Nice well balanced IPA with a very subtle mild hop flavour as opposed to the very bitter hop flavour of many IPAs. I do prefer a bit more bitter and aggressive IPA but I certainly respect the more subtle style of this beer. One has the impression that this brewery has a very good water supply.

Pint at the Duke of Kent, Toronto. Has a weird brown colour, showing little lace and is somewhat cloudy. big aromas of floral hops, pine cones, citrus. It is a well hopped brew with some light malt notes but a hollow mid palate. Otherwise a very enjoyable brew.

[bottle from LCBO] Floral aroma that is pretty much entirely hops. Flavour is very floral from the hops with pine and strawberry accents. A little spicy and with assertive but not overly dominant bitterness. Very good balance, but the hops flavour is just a bit too floral for me. Medium body, medium carbonation, nice hops finish that is not too bitter.

355 ml bottle from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear dirty amber with a decent off-white foam. Aroma: Juicy, fruity, citrus hops, some tropical fruit and apricot notes, grapefruit and marmalade, a bit of pine/resin, bread crust/biscuit/toast malts, a touch dusty/musty, quite nice. Palate: Medium body, moderate effervescence with a few sharp bubbles. Flav.: Malts and C-hops in harmony, nice bread crust/toast bordering on caramel/toffee, plenty of grapefruit and marmalade notes, strong citrus, some pine and resin, still a little of the dusty/musty note, really enjoyable; dry with good bitterness and a long, malty, eucalyptus finish.

The new branding/packaging is slick. This is a great addition to the Muskoka portfolio and the Ontario beer scene.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2012 Bouteille LCBO 355 ml. 6.4%.

Dry hopped cask version. At first, not much aroma, but as time passes it becomes more pronounced. Nice hop bitter, with a little malt sweetness as well. A bit rough in the aftertasre.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2011 Pours honey golden. Forms a rather thick white head with decent retention. Looks a bit creamy when poured. Pretty. (4-) Aroma is grapefruit, floral. Good, but ultimately lacks depth in that regards (7-) Taste is ... well... lack of malt on this one is terrible. Certainly hoppy taste, but it just tastes like somebody forgot that the main ingredient of a beer is actually supposed to be malt. It’s not bad per se, but going over the top with hops doesn’t mean a beer is going to be oh wow BBBIIIIIITER, which is something the folks at LOMCB forgot. I can’t take it seriously. (4+). Mouthfeel is in oily territory. Not a hint of cream -- what the pour suggested. Finish is somewhat unsurprising. (3+) All in all : I can’t take this one seriously. It seems like somebody thought overhopping and undermalting a beer would actually make people say "oh wow niche product" but it completely fails in that regard. (5)being kind here). EDIT : It looks even more of a ridiculous, all-hop beer after a delicious St-Ambroise India Pale Ale.

355 ml bottle. Toronto, ON:
Clear amber colour with big frothy off-white head. Strong delicious hoppy aroma with pine, citrus, fruits and resin. Flavour is much milder. Dark hops and citrus sweetness. Flavour was slightly disappointing after the delicious aroma.
