Bottle. Orange-amber pour with a soapy off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma with some toffee malt underneath. Quite a hoppy flavour, lots of citrus and some grapefruit bitterness at the finish. Fairly thick texture, not overly carbonated. A really nice IPA.

Muskoka must know-ka what they’re doing when it comes to brewing an IPA with a lil’ flair. This hazy, unfiltered medium amber tipple is really sessionable and easy to scoot more than a few down the ol’ throatster. Lots of citrus and floral hops balanced by clover honey and light caramel malt flavours. It’s refreshing and the low carbonation and smooth feel make it a breeze to let it please.

Just finished Muskoka’s Detour, and now diving into this. Mad Tom is a very nice venture down into proper IPA territory; pours a hazy amber colour with minimal head and an excellent hops aroma. Taste hits you hard with delicious hops only slightly tempered with a bit of sweetness. Built for hops lovers, none of whome should be disappointed.

This was a nice refresher of an IPA, it seemed to lean more towards floral and grassy, then some old big pine tree IPA. Poured a hazy copper, with a small off white head that was quickly gone. Aroma was of floral hops, citrus, and grass. Tasted of caramel, toffee, citrus and light pine. Had a medium body with low carbonation. It finished with a refreshing bitter aftertaste. I could really session on this brew.

0.473 l can, thanks Sampo! Amber color. Strong aroma of pine, onion, pepper, apricot and lemon. Fairly aggressive piney and lemony taste with cat pee, grapefruit, menthol, pine resins and strong bitterness. Agressive but still drinkable IPA. Not my kind of hop character (pine, cat pee).

Can from LCBO. Pours amber with a slightly off white head. Aroma is caramel with funky veg. Medium body, medium carbonation. Caramel, light funky veg, pine, resin, wood, light grapefruit bitterness. Sweeter than I remember, good though.

Copper colour, finish tastes of grapefruit. Strong taste of hops and the aroma matches the taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2014 Pours a semi-translucent copper colour. Aromas of citrusy hops, but with plenty of caramel malt too. Taste is grapefruit smothered in buttery caramel, which speaks to the excellent balance in this beer. I’ve had this before and remember it being more hoppy, But my can’s best before is 24aug14’ so I know it is in its prime in late June. Just illustrates how our memories aren’t always bang on. Still a highly enjoyable pint and I would never say no to a Mad Tom.
