3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.473 l can, thanks Sampo! Amber color. Strong aroma of pine, onion, pepper, apricot and lemon. Fairly aggressive piney and lemony taste with cat pee, grapefruit, menthol, pine resins and strong bitterness. Agressive but still drinkable IPA. Not my kind of hop character (pine, cat pee).

Can from LCBO. Pours amber with a slightly off white head. Aroma is caramel with funky veg. Medium body, medium carbonation. Caramel, light funky veg, pine, resin, wood, light grapefruit bitterness. Sweeter than I remember, good though.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a semi-translucent copper colour.
Aromas of citrusy hops, but with plenty of caramel malt too.
Taste is grapefruit smothered in buttery caramel, which speaks to the excellent balance in this beer.
I’ve had this before and remember it being more hoppy, But my can’s best before is 24aug14’ so I know it is in its prime in late June. Just illustrates how our memories aren’t always bang on. Still a highly enjoyable pint and I would never say no to a Mad Tom.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from La Atlántica bottle shop, Santiago de Compostela consumed at Frank (camper) at Camping Muneria, O Grove, Galicia, Tuesday 24th June 2014 Pours glowing orange perhaps heading towards a murky amber with a sticky white head. This beer seriously reminds me of another, I need to rack my brain to think what it is. Malty and sweet with a gluey syrupy feel about it, I know that doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement because it is actually a decent beer. Chewy, malty but v.hoppy nice, however typically American in style, good. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Old bottle, I imagine this would be a bit better fresh. Lots of malt flavor in this, a bit of citrus and a bit of pine. Meh. Wouldn’t make my top 25 IPAs even fresh.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
473ml can from an LCBO in Toronto, ON. A hazy amber pour with a tight white head; rich citrusy aroma; gentle well-blanced taste with some citrus and a buttery malty body; and a slowly building bitterness to finish. A subtle, understated IPA that’s very easy to drink.
