October 30, 2011 - Volo Cask Days 2011 - gravity cask. Deep ruby, clear, very small tan creamy/foamy head. Aroma is ... fairly sweet caramel malt, plenty of green herbal bitterness, and a hint of smoke or peat - or that may have been the power of overheard suggestion. Taste had less bitterness, but it still balanced nicely against the almost burnt cereal malt - again, a hint of peat or salty iodine. Solid body, a bit astringent, half-decent cask carbonation, and a long bitter/burnt finish that lingered on the palate. Solid stuff - not syrupy or sugary at all.

Cask at Cask Days 2011. Beer #21 of festival. Pours a very dark brown with a small lasting creamy light-brown head. Slightly mild aroma of roasted malt, light leafy hops and fruit. Flavour is quite bitter, with resiny leafy hops along with slightly roasted dark malt, citrus fruit and a dry average bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good

Aroma citrus , brown sugars, alcohol, slight citric fruity sourness with dark malt as backing.
Appearance light brown with mid white rocky head.
Flavor and Palate : medium bodied. Soft textures on walls, easy going smooth feel. Gentle tartness sitting on hint of alcohol. Nice black IPA.

A deep dark IPA with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a smokey caramel, with light corky notes. In mouth, a smooth chocolate malt with light organic notes, a bit peaty and funky. Cask Days, Oct. 30 2011.

Cask Days 2011, Solid Black IPA. Great balnace between black roastiness & bitterness. The two main components feed off each other nicely, both shine but share the limelight. Nice beer
