2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 DeanF (1477) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - FEB 5, 2012
500ml can, found somewhere in the cold climes of Ottawa. Hey, I’m from further north, so all the cold-weather paranoia really doesn’t mean much to me. Minus eight? Shorts and sleeves weather!! I think this one is a four for appearance, the head is good and the body is a solid dark brown-burgundy hue. The aroma is all simple malts, nothing exciting. The flavour is much the same - malty flavours all over the place, watery finish. No complexity, no enticing mouthfeel. A shame, really - this could have (and -should- have) been much better.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 ILduce (162) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 29, 2011
Bottle LCBO: Pours an opaque black/brown with huge beige head which left in a hurry. Aromas of coffee and dark chocolate notes. Taste is dark chocolate-covered cherries backed by solid malt presence. Sticky mouthfeel. Not as rich as it could be. Just decent.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 pushkinwow (729) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 30, 2011
Can. Mahogany with a tan head. Medium roast malts (like a porter), some coffee, bittersweet chocolate, grains and nuts. Decent carbonation, bit thin, somewhat sweet, can almost taste the grains, bit dry (almost like some powder bittersweet chocolate is mixed in), slightly off finish. An interesting beer but things just don’t blend together correctly.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 rwgould (200) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 28, 2011
Appearance: Opaque brown, huge beige, frothy head, fair amount of carbonation. Aroma: Weak. Subtle notes of vanilla, soy sauce, chocolate. Not much there. Palate: Medium bodied, though on the thin side. Doesn’t linger at all. Kinda watery. Taste: slightly bitter. Blah boring.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Phatman (103) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 7, 2011
from a can. It’s kind of like a faux stout.pours a nutty brown colour with a healthy head on it. malty aroma laced with hints of coffee and chocolate. taste initially is malty, nutty bitterness but this quickly vanishes, Who knows where it goes as the tail end is a smooth bitter aftertaste, I;ve no idea what happens in the middle. drinkable but i’m not really sure what niche the ale is trying to fill.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Strangebrewer (495) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 2, 2011
can. Poured dark brown with ruby tint. Thin brown head. Roasty, coffeeish aroma. Oddly light mouthfeel. Roasted malt flavour, a bit sour. Mild metallic bitter finish, but quite drinkable.

A little bitter, a touch of sourness. Certainly decent, and leaves a nice finish.
