COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Each year the tempered thaw of Muskoka winter gives rise to new and strange creations. Legends date back to the 1800’s when lumberjacks and fur traders took to the woods and ecnountered the mysterious culture and wildlife in the unknown Northern region. Today, we echo our ancestors’ quest and have unearthed this season’s most distinct offerings. The culmination of these ingredients rests in the LEGENDARY MUSKOKA SPRING ODDITY brew.

We invite you to Release The Legend.

Ingredients: Pure Muskoka Water, Heather Tips, Juniper Berries, Sweet Orange Peel Shavings, North American Malts, Noble Hops, Belgian Yeast and Belgian Candi Sugar.

white foam, fine. golden with a green tinge. as close to a good saison outside of the dupont yeast that I’ve had. it’s the noble hops, low fruit esters and herbal components that draw it nearer to a saison classic for me than to any sort of abbey ale. very herbal, grassy, hay. off dry to semi-sweet. medium effervescence. peppery, herbal, sweet aroma, almost alkaloid finish. very enjoyable. thanks mcphee!

Bouteille 750 ml. 8%.

750ml bottle. Pours clear straw yellow with thin head. Lots of Belgian yeast aroma, some spice, floral notes, very light citrus tinge. Muted taste. Fizzy, tingly mouthfeel. Light-bodied yet the higher alchohol content punches through. Short, abrupt finish. This brew came highly recommended but I wasn’t all that impressed.

750mL 2012 bottle to pint glass Aromas of bread, banana, belgian yeasts; slight notes of tangerine, spices and alcohol. Pours a clear pale yellow with a large white head with little lacing. Settles to a 1/2 cm long lasting head. There are also a lot of small particulates floating around in there. Starts sweet on the tongue and transitions to a bitterness and a tangy warming of the tongue and throat. Belgian yeasts are apparent throughout. The mouthfeel is smooth and nicely effervescent with a warmness at the end. A solid Belgian, but the added ingredients don't make much of an appearance so putting them in is a bit of a waste.

THere’s a lot of hype over this one but I don’t think it’s that justified. It’s alright for Ontario but pretty weak for a Belgian. Alcohol smells strong though not as much in the taste. No lacing. On tap at barVolo.

The pour: a pale golden-yellow with sparkling carbonation and a medium white head. The aroma: a very unique flowery hoppiness, perhaps chamomile or sunflower, with a sugar or candy-like sweetness. Notes of juniper berry are hard to come by but a gin-like aroma is present. A few faint notes of hay and banana can be found as well. The taste: begins with a dry sweetness and carries through with a light bitterness. The Belgian yeast is quite apparent. Has a medium slick mouth feel with lively carbonation. The verdict: a very well crafted beer. Careful with the ABV! A true oddity but balanced in flavours and shows true artistry in brewing.

Spicy hop aroma, light bready malts, some hay. Active carb, good mouthfeel. Fruity finish, grassy hops, spicy herbs. Light bready sharp malts. Interesting.

pours translucent orange with minimal head, micro CO2, a few slow-moving CO2 streams. Light malts and chamomile on the nose. Sharp sweetness (7/10) up front, transitions into honey, chamomile, juniper berries (which you have to look for), and ends with an orange peel lingering bitterness (5/10). Carbonation is tingly and mouthfeel is tingly and slightly cloying sweet. Medium complexity, med-high depth, great transitions, good carry, really good drinkability.

Bottle. Big pop. Hazy yellow. Rings of white lace. Aroma of alcohol and fields. Flavour is similar. Alcohol presence and biscuit and grass. Kinda of cool Belgian from Ontario.

On tap at the Rhino, C’est What and 750 ml bottle - pours and opaque mustard hue with thight white head. Aromas typically Belgian - baking spices, light pit fruit, but the addition of the juniper and heather lend a truly beguiling note, providing a more earthy, herbal quality and pushing the beer nearly into gin territory. Really lovely. Flavour kicks the unique additions down a notch, showing a solid Belgian pale/tripel body, spicy, sweet, but with a fresh, minty component. Finish is snappy and dry, very moreish for such a big beer. Muskoka continues to impress...
