Each year the tempered thaw of Muskoka winter gives rise to new and strange creations. Legends date back to the 1800’s when lumberjacks and fur traders took to the woods and ecnountered the mysterious culture and wildlife in the unknown Northern region. Today, we echo our ancestors’ quest and have unearthed this season’s most distinct offerings. The culmination of these ingredients rests in the LEGENDARY MUSKOKA SPRING ODDITY brew.

We invite you to Release The Legend.

Ingredients: Pure Muskoka Water, Heather Tips, Juniper Berries, Sweet Orange Peel Shavings, North American Malts, Noble Hops, Belgian Yeast and Belgian Candi Sugar.

After allowing the foam to dissipated, the aroma is clear Belgian yeast and herbs. The taste is orange hop oil, orange peel, chamomile and other herbs, coriander, dill. OK drinkability. Interesting, though not something I could have for a while. Beige head on medium yellow body.Smooth mouthfeel.

7/VII/14 - 75cl bottle leftover saved from RBBSG III with cap and in the fridge, since I couldn’t keep up with the tick fest @ home - BB: n/a, 2013 vintage (2014-784) Thanks to Travlr for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark orange beer, small aery white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: spicy, orange peel, very spicy, bit sugary. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bits weet start, some orange peel, very spicy, bit oxidized, might be due to keeping though. Aftertaste: spicy, orange peel, bit sugary, sweet. Meh.

They should have never put this beer in a box. The box automatically over hypes the beer and gets your hopes up too much. Not that it is a bad beer, it just isn’t a standout in my mind. Pours a hazy peach colour with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is of basement, wheat and honey. Taste is pretty complex with hints of banana, booze, honey, apple, and gum. Has a medium heavy body with low carbonation and a tingly feeling left in your mouth. Quite quaffy for how strong it is, but all those fun ingredients didn’t do too much for this brew.

Clear amber pour with a very quick head that leaves no lace at all...no, wait, there’s a few bubbles clinging to one edge of the glass. Nose has some bready yeast, spice and candied fruit. There’s a real kerosene note on the palate on top of some spice and faint fruit. There’s something very sharp in the finish and the alcohol warmth isn’t altogether pleasant. There’s almost a burn in the long finish. I’d pass on this a second time. Gah.

This beer is not for me. Has lots of wine/boozy fruit notes and stone fruit flavours. Tastes like it was aged in an oak barrel or something out of sync with the other flavours as well.

Vintage 2013 bottle bought at the LCBO in toronto/Canada. Jarred pears aroma no doubt! Amazing. Color is hazy orange golden. Taste is like a fruity Duvell. Very close to a standard Belgian ale or tripple. Overall a very very good beer!
