COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Each year the tempered thaw of Muskoka winter gives rise to new and strange creations. Legends date back to the 1800’s when lumberjacks and fur traders took to the woods and ecnountered the mysterious culture and wildlife in the unknown Northern region. Today, we echo our ancestors’ quest and have unearthed this season’s most distinct offerings. The culmination of these ingredients rests in the LEGENDARY MUSKOKA SPRING ODDITY brew.

We invite you to Release The Legend.

Ingredients: Pure Muskoka Water, Heather Tips, Juniper Berries, Sweet Orange Peel Shavings, North American Malts, Noble Hops, Belgian Yeast and Belgian Candi Sugar.

pours translucent orange with minimal head, micro CO2, a few slow-moving CO2 streams. Light malts and chamomile on the nose. Sharp sweetness (7/10) up front, transitions into honey, chamomile, juniper berries (which you have to look for), and ends with an orange peel lingering bitterness (5/10). Carbonation is tingly and mouthfeel is tingly and slightly cloying sweet. Medium complexity, med-high depth, great transitions, good carry, really good drinkability.

Clear amber pour with a very quick head that leaves no lace at all...no, wait, there’s a few bubbles clinging to one edge of the glass. Nose has some bready yeast, spice and candied fruit. There’s a real kerosene note on the palate on top of some spice and faint fruit. There’s something very sharp in the finish and the alcohol warmth isn’t altogether pleasant. There’s almost a burn in the long finish. I’d pass on this a second time. Gah.

This beer is not for me. Has lots of wine/boozy fruit notes and stone fruit flavours. Tastes like it was aged in an oak barrel or something out of sync with the other flavours as well.

Pours a hazy brilliant gold color with white ring. The smell is wort, citrus. The taste is fruit, sweet malt, caramel. The body is medium and sticky with mild carbonation.

Vintage 2013 bottle bought at the LCBO in toronto/Canada. Jarred pears aroma no doubt! Amazing. Color is hazy orange golden. Taste is like a fruity Duvell. Very close to a standard Belgian ale or tripple. Overall a very very good beer!

750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG III. Thanks to travlr! Cool label. Golden, white head. Doesn’t smell okay to me, lactic, this yeasty, sour, citrus, soap. Tastes of thick old chunky yeast, plaster, lactic, spoiled yoghurt, artificial citrus. Thick yeast, this doesn’t feel alright to me.

Corked bottle from Steamworks Liquor Store, Vancouver, as Muskoka Oddity
vintage 2013, bb 30 Sept 2014

Hazy blond color with medium sized compact head. Belgian aroma, lightly spicy and fruity, some esters, very light soap. Dynamic mouthfeel, lean and with very moderate sweetness; nice malt flavor, with delicate fruit and spice presence, no dominating traits; correct bitterness.
Has a few merits: clean, great balance, harmony and not showing too much the spices.
Very nice.
