3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (355 ml). Thanks to czar! Clear golden/amber with a small creamy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is of pine, citrus and malt with slight fruity notes (strawberries). Taste is moderately sweet with malt/caramel, pine, citrus and slight fruits. Moderate bitterness. Medium body. Mouthfeel is oily. Pretty good, but a bit too heavy on sugar.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nectar of the Gods... this goes beyond beer and into the realm of sustainable food product, something the world needs more of.
It takes real skill to manage those west coast hops, and these lads not only know how to do it but capitalize on it.... the beer is centered yet aggressive, floral and malty, yet balanced at every turn. And turn it does, presenting itself in the most of intruiging of ways on the nose, opening up into the malt centre on tasting and finishing in a flurry of exotic floral abundance, all in a naturally sweet (not sugary) package.
This beer is in the pantheon of Ontario beers. Many have tried to do a Double IPA well. Few have succeeded.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Copper colour with a thin lace. Bitter grapefruit hop aroma. Lovely bitter fruit flavour. Slight oily texture with a sharp citrus bitterness which cuts through it. Very nice.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
smells really bitter and agressive from bottle. Citrus and grapefruit from glass. 3 finger long lasting head and yellowy orange with some carbination. Some sips taste like citrus and grape fruit, some sips have a sticky sryupy feel and pine taste. Medium-heavy bodied. Not my perfered kinda style of beer but I liked it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
(355mL bottle from LCBO) Pours a clear copper with a small bubbly white head, little lace. Aroma grapefruit, orange, tropical fruit, slight pine, caramel malt. Flavour up-front is a mix of malt sugars, guava, orange pop, fading into grass and a bit of biscuit with some lingering orange and drying out towards the finish with fairly restrained bitterness and a bit of pepper, no alcohol. Palate is medium, carbonation fairly high, mouthfeel slightly oily. This is an ok DIPA but not a great one, I find the sweetness up front a bit high, the bitterness quite light and the complexity a bit lacking. Not as refreshing as normal Mad Tom either.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a snifter. Pours clear orange-amber with a moderate tan head that mostly remains and leaves a moderate amount of dense lace. The nose has big notes of grapefruit, along with tropical fruit, pine and resin. There are also hints of caramel and biscuit malts. The flavour is fairly well balanced between moderately sweet malts and citric, floral hops. Towards the end, a slightly spicy bitterness takes over and carries through the long, dry, bitter finish. On the palate, it is medium in body with a dry texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a decently well made double IPA with an aroma reminiscent of the great California IPAs. It is not as complex or subtle as the best examples (PTY, PTE), but it is very drinkable. 2012-12-19

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
355ml bottle. Hazy orange/amber pour, moderate to large tan head. Floral and sweet grapefruit hops with a good caramel malt backbone. taste carries over from the smell rather well and is well balanced between sweet and bitter. Body is medium to full. Overall, more balanced than the single Mad Tom. The hops were aggressive enough to keep up with the sweetness.
